I had mine out in 2008 via laparoscopy---- Had the usual pain from a surgery but was up and around in a few days. I took it easy as directed.  Took a few weeks to heal . It was an outpatient thing so went home the same day. No issues with the sleepy juice --I never do anyway. and no issues with the procedure either.

I had my gallbladder removed as an outpatient procedure.  I had three golf ball sized stones that were calcified and couldnt be broken up to remove them.

I had a few punctures on my torso and a larger 2 inch incision near my gallbladder to get those stones removed in one piece.

I was given an RX for oxy for pain.  I had zero pain, did not need meds and since I was off of work for two weeks, I went on vacation.

The surgery and recovery was a piece of cake.

Now, my poor mother had the old fashioned surgery where she was cut from right breast to left hip...it was awful.

Today, surgery has improved if your gallbladder can be removed this non-evasive way.

Had mine out in the early 80's..At that time "belly button" surgery was so new my Dr. had to argue with my insurance company to pay fo it..I was home in 3 days...I was just a little sore.

During  a "lull" in the pandemic..I had kidney cancer and my kidney was removed..I went home the next day.

I had my gallbladder removed decades ago. It had been painful ( 8 hours each episode ) and misdiagnosed for years.

It was done laproscopically and I recovered quickly without any problem what so ever.

It was like a miracle.

Have confidence.

You will be feeling so much better.

Let us know how you are after the procedure.

THanks everybody for sharing your experience.  I find it always helps to hear from people who have gone thru it.

Happy New Year to everyone.  I hope we all have a healthy and peaceful 2024.

My sister just had hers out last Friday, lapriscopic(sp?)..She went in Friday morning around 5am, had surgery at 7am and was home by noon.

She has some pain, and it hurts to cough, she holds a pillow against her stomach to ease that pain, but she is so glad she did it and got it over with after some painful attacks..

They did 4 incisions and she was told no heavy lifting for 2 weeks, but other than that, not many other restrictions, unless you are still taking the pain meds which she isn't... She no longer works outside the home, but does babysit for her 16 month old granddaughter, so she won't be able to watch her for two weeks...Good Luck with your surgery-hopes it goes smoothly!
