My daughter was diagnosed with  type 1 diabetes about six years ago.  She started eating much they way you and your husband do, and I learned more about it and changed my diet substantially as well. I lost almost 20 pounds.

fast forward to about two months ago.  I had been eating too many carbs and put on almost all of those 20 pounds.  Started cutting back on carbs (and sugar) once again.   10 pounds down, about 7 to go!

Your story was mine too many carbs, and like you changed my lifestyle @Susan Louise inspirational story along with her DH helped  me surpass my original weightloss and feel wonderful. Good on you! Happy for your daughter too. Stay in touch. Love to hear from you.

Re: For those who want a better understanding of a carnivore lifestyle...

Hello.

Below I am sharing the name of a dr and the title of one of his videos from approx 3 months ago, which I find to be one of the most informative while at the same time the simplest to understand.  Dr Hampton eats Carnivore and is a family medicine and obesity physician, who practices in-person in Chicago and also has a social media presence, to help spread the word on the benefits of the ketogenic way of life. He is so kind and really shines in breaking things down for the average person to understand.

His wife is a Type 1 Diabetic and a Pharmacist and is doing well on keto.

On Youtube the channel is Dr Tony Hampton

Video dated Dec 18, 2024:

Why The Carnivore Diet is More Powerful Than You Think

Hello to@Susan Louise! It has been a while since I've participated on the forum.  I do read it from time to time and I applaud your efforts to educate people.  If even one person watches the video I've shared and benefits from it, my addition to your post will have been worth my time.

I just thought Dr Hampton would be a good addition to the list of doctors which you already provided.

Until a person experiences for themselves the ongoing absence of inflammation that this way of eating can provide, it's difficult for them to understand just how much better they may feel.

I've been strict keto (carnivore some days, always limit most lectins and oxalates and all seed oils) since June 2022.  I'm 52 years old and feel better than I can EVER remember, even as a child.

@SHOPR  Thank you so much for sharing and glad to see you back!  sHa_wave5.gif

You are spot on with everything...especially what I highlighted in red.

The health improvements are astounding. I'm 65 and feel like I'm in my 30's.

It feels so good to be out of the Big Food/Big Pharma matrix too. DH and I can't believe how much we were all dupped/brain-washed with the upside-down food pyramid. We kick ourselves whenever we think of wishing we started down this road decades sooner.

Better late than never. Smiley Happy

@Susan LouiseSo nice to "see" you too!Cat Happy

Ketogenic Woman on YouTube is another good resource.  Anita is 67 years old and shares her experiences after losing 145 lbs.  She has a bad knee, bone on bone, but has been able to put off a planned surgery by reducing her pain and inflammation to the point where she is walking up to 15,000 steps a day.
