I have extreme pain in my feet from neuropathy. My doctor put me on gabapentin, but I had such severe side effects. I could not handle it. I’m only taking about one a day now, but it only helps slightly with pain. I’m here to ask and find out if any of you have the same problem and what you do to help with the pain. Any help would be appreciated!

When Gabapentin no longer kept my husbands pain controlled, his provider at the VA, prescribed an actual pain medication.

@Kazsails I'm so sorry to hear that, my DH has bouts of it as did I. Several years ago I began to take Alpha Lipoic Acid Sustain, I use Jarrow's brand. I seldom have any issues with neuropathy and my husband is having the same results after a couple of months.  Do check with your physician to make sure it will not react with any of your other medications.  I order it from Amazon because I cannot find it locally.

Had to take Gabepentin after surgery for 30 days 3x a day.... it was a terrible medication the side effects were traumatic.  Starting to have pain in my foot and leg wondering if that is neuropathy.

There's a device I learned about recently that helps with pain and neuropathy (this uses vibration which is different from a tens unit). I haven't used it but you may want to look into it. It was developed by a physical therapist and there are videos on youtube as well as info on the website*. rezzimax -dot- com

* "...vibration can be used to aid in healing the human nervous system...Using the device for just a few minutes a day was helping to drastically reduce chronic pain for many people"

I have no ties to this person or company in any way - just sharing in case it helps

My physical therapy center sends me invites to have a free consultation on what is called whole-body vibration. Expensive, and not covered by insurance or medicare.

@hopi

Before any type of pain gains a foothold and becomes a problem to treat, get to your specialist or PC doctor fast.

Different sources for the pain...needs to be determined by your doctor(s).

we use lifepro vibration plates. great co. to do business with.  they are on azon and have a mini version. Hubs has diabetic neuropathy and it helps when he uses it consistently.

Gabapentin takes a LONG time to get used to. I take it 4X daily. Marijuana tablets have been a major help for my pain management. I also take naproxen 2capsules 2x daily.

Lyrica is the way to go. It's generic now.
