I take gabapentin for nerve pain to my shoulder. Have used it in several different strengths. Many side effects. Makes me kind of loopy at higher doses and extremely hypotensive at any dose. I have to hold onto furniture as I move around the house because I feel faint. The med takes the edge off my pain so I just deal with the side effects. Cant take Lyrica again as it made my feet and ankles swell up

I take gabapentin every day for neuropathy - not just feet but arms and hands as well caused by a spinal cord issue I got a cervical fusion for.  Luckily I can tolerate it.  I just have to keep upping the dose to get good control over the pain and even then, the pain relief is not complete.  I do remember, however, it took a while for my body to get used to it.  As one of the other posters mentioned about her husband, I anticipate that there will come a time when I can no longer take it because the dosage to effect pain relief will be too high.

Re: Foot Neuropathy

[ Edited ]

I’ve dealt with pretty bad neuropathy in my feet too, and gabapentin just wasn’t working for me, too many side effects for barely any relief. What ended up helping was CBD oil, but I had to do a bit of digging to find one that actually worked. If you’re curious, this is the site where I found what’s rated as the best CBD oil in the UK. It breaks down different options with reviews, so it’s easier to figure out what might be worth trying

Magnesium.  Investigate types of magnesium on market and evaluate your medications as they may be depleting your magnesium storage/intake.

I know someone that takes Nortriptyline, less side affects.

You could ask that EB-N6 be prescribed.  My husbands podiatrist took it upon himself to put an order in for him without first  discussing it with him.

It has to be prescribed.  It's a "medical food"/supplement that is not covered by insurance, not available at local pharmacies, has to be mail ordered and it's expensive.  It was $160 for a 3 month supply.

He decided not to take it and cancelled the order.
