FitBit, your thoughts please

They seem to have an equal amount of 5 star and 1 star reviews. I just don't know what to think. Basically, I want something that tracks my steps. I'm not techie so syncing with a device isn't of much importance to me. Please share your thoughts on FitBit or other pedometers (I want something to wear on my wrist like a watch).

Have my Firbit Versa 2 about a year and don't know what I would do if it broke. I would probably buy another one that same day. You can have Alexa remind you of things even if you don't have Alexa in your house because it's in the Fitbit. I now can't live without mine and my twin sister feels the same about the one I bought her. Don't think you'll be sorry.

Love my Fitbit Versa 2.  It looks like the Apple watch.  Do not get from Q they sell refurbished ones. You sync it to your smart phone or IPad. You get a lot of info on the watch immediatley.  It is kind of easy to do. It keeps track of great stuff sends you a weekly email of your progress.

It helped me to figure out that the blood pressure medicine prescribed to  me was way to high.

I love my fitbit. I have the Charge 3 and now of course there's a 4 that I want.

You might want to look at the Fitbit Inspire. They have it with or without a heart rate. They also sell an accessory so you can take the band off and use it as a clip on pedometer.

Re: FitBit, your thoughts please

I have a Fitbit Charge 2 that I got from QVC and it's a love/hate relationship.  Tracking my steps is a given but I love that it tracks your sleep and is synced to my WW app.  If it broke tomorrow, I'd be trying to decide which model to replace it with.

What I don't like about mine is that it doesn't always track stairs correctly. I can go up and down my steps as part of my exercise routine and sometimes it tracks it, sometimes not.  Sometimes I know that I watched all of a movie or late night talk show but because I dozed off 15 minutes prior, all of that shows as sleep unless you read the detailed info.  Your activity minutes don't show up until you've done a continuous 10 or 15 minutes so if you stop before that, you don't see those minutes.  The straps break a lot.  The reason I haven't bought a newer model is because I'm not very good with too much sophistication in electronics.  Just ask my track  phone, lol.

Re: FitBit, your thoughts please

@AuntG---I have one---and it is great for tracking your arm movements----you wear it on your wrist so everytime you move your arm, it counts it---I wore it on my ankle one day, did just as much activity as when it was on my wrist and didn't make it to my 10,000 steps, in fact was hundreds of steps less----kind of misleading,  altho the tracking of your sleep is interesting---I won't buy another one----

On the Charge 2 you can tell it to start tracking the walk except now I can't totally remember how to get you there. I think if you click the button it takes you to a screen with exercises and then you tap on it until you see walk and the click the button to start. If walk isn't showing you can add it in your account so it shows up on the fitbit.

Also I really like the magnetic bands that you can get on Amazon. I really hated the bands that come with the fitbit.

@AuntG

The FitBit watches are very inaccurate. They count a lot of movements that are not stepsxand don’t count others that are. I’ve got a FitBit One that is good at counting steps but one of my biggest regrets is buying a FitBit watches. Total waste of money. They tried replacing it for me a few times but they are all bad.

Re: FitBit, your thoughts please

Sorry to hear that @willdob3 . Someone else mentioned it counted arm movements as steps. I guess I'll just track the minutes I walk because it's really the pedometer portion I'm interested in. 30 minutes = 3000 steps if I'm lucky.

Re: FitBit, your thoughts please

I guess we can have a debate on whether arm movements should count as much as steps.  IMO, arms movements are just as important.  The objective is to move...be it arms or feet.  It has to be rather vigorous arm movements, though, because I don't notice those numbers going up with slow movements during housework or gardening.

There are times when my arthritis in my feet bother me and my walking gets limited and chair exercises with arm exercises is all I can do and you can work up a good sweat.
