@I am still oxox   Could you ask your doctor if there's a different medication you could take instead of the one that's causing dry mouth?

I started having severe dry mouth around the beginning of July and haven't been able to figure out why.  I've bought several things for it that only bring very short temporary relief.

Today I looked up a new drug that I started taking on June 23rd, right before the dry mouth started.  It was tizanidine, a muscle relaxer.  One of the most common side effects is dry mouth.  I put the drug away and won't take it again.  I hope my dry mouth gets better.  I hope you find some relief, too.

OAB medications can cause headaches and dry mouth.
I'm not sure what else you can do really.

Have you tried zinc tabs?

My dentist suggested them about 2 weeks ago, and they have helped.

I have little lozengers called Smart Mouth.  They look like little white pills and are some kind of mint.  I keep a little pack with me all the time.  They are not a cure but they help for a bit.  I haven't found anything really which is long-lasting.  I also use a mouth wash for dry mouth and make sure I don't use any mouth wash which has alcohol.  I also use toothpaste for sensitive teeth and gums.  I try to drink a lot of water and avoid caffeine.  I also use lip balm constantly, which doesn't help with the dry mouth but makes my lips not feel so parched and helps indirectly.  I also try and avoid spicy and overly salted foods.

the dry mouth, last night I rinsed with biotene at bed and once during the night, it was fairly tolerable, I will try to remember to do this at bed time.

@Drythe   No, but I'll look into that.  I quit taking tizanidine yesterday and still have dry mouth and other side effects that started with the drug today.  If that was the cause, I wonder when they'll go away.  Thank you for mentioning zinc tablets.

I don't either, but my blood preasure pill had a water pill in it, and it was drying my mouth out terribly.  My doctor switched, and it was better.

I like the Xlear Spry brand products for dry mouth.

I have used Biotene plus several others the dentist recommended but they all left a nasty taste in my mouth. The Spry did not do that. They make a mouth spray, mints, gum, toothpaste, mouthwash etc.
