It crossed my mind today that doctors, social media and everywhere I look it's drink water, hydrate, drink water. . .

Then most of the people I know are on diuretics.  Water water everywhere, then a water pill to take with it. . .Maybe I'm just old and know old people. . .  Woman SurprisedWoman LOL

@Sooner  Agree w/u that everyone seems to be promoting drinking water/hydrating w/just plain water or flavored water.

I guess it's good for me though as I seem to dry out too many places anymore if I don't drink lots it.

I don't think it works that way, I think the more water you drink the less water you retain, if you are dehydrated your body retains water.

I usually drink 16 ounces of water when I wake up, 16 ounces with breakfast. 32 ounces during weightlifting or aerobic exercise, 16 ounces with lunch, 16 ounces with dinner and 16 ounces before bed so a grand total of 112 ounces of water a day.  Smiley Happy

That's because it is an "easy answer".....and they can't think of anything else to say.

Perhaps, as we navigate through this sea of information, we're all learning what works best for our individual well-being. And don't worry, your perspective isn't exclusive to age, it's valuable to reflect on the world around us, regardless of where we stand.

Re: Drinking Water?

[ Edited ]

@elen22   astute comment.  A specific individual's need for water will vary....depending on diet (high water content food), activity/exercise, as well as weather.  Your health should also be considered (meds/health conditions -i.e., constipated - drink more water).  You should have pale urine...if too dark, more water.

I always have a bottle of Pellegrino with me, but I've started buying the half-gallon bottles at Costco and keeping one a day in the fridge/work to drink through out the day...an easy way for me to meet my specific goals which can vary daily.

I'm a firm believer in this:

"Dilution is the solution to pollution."

Staying hydrated helps get rid of waste products and toxins from the body. Otherwise they can stay inside the body and cause problems.
