With the excessive heat this Summer, we all need more water!

I learned something new, just this past year or so, about water retention. When I went to lay down at night to go to sleep I would get up several times a night to go pee. I found out later that I was retaining water and laying down caused the water to start draining out of my legs and feet mostly. So then I started drinking more water during the daytime and it seems I'm not up half the night peeing now. Yay!

@Citrine1  Your comment made me smile because I do indeed drink an excessive amount of water each day now that I look at the number of 112 ounces a day Smiley Very Happy!  My doctor recommended for me to eat more fiber and to drink more water in 2020. My high fiber diet of veggies, salads, fruit and oatmeal is combined with sides of  protein through different cuts of meat that I marinade or spice rub and grill, bake or turn into stews.  I hated drinking a lot of water before my doctor and I came up with this three prong approach of water, fiber, continued fitness- but now that I know how water works with my meals and weightlifting/cardio, I see it as a tool to get me through the day and  just glug it down in increments and keep it moving.  Smiley Very Happy.

I usually drink 16 ounces of water when I wake up, 16 ounces with breakfast. 32 ounces during weightlifting or aerobic exercise, 16 ounces with lunch, 16 ounces with dinner and 16 ounces before bed so a grand total of 112 ounces of water a day.  Smiley Happy

@SportyShorty07 @Do you do a very heavy workout routine every day?

@Mindy D  I do heavy workout routines Monday to Friday and light walks on the weekend.  I'm in the final stages of fitness tests and filling out forms to get into my city's police academy to become a police officer,  so I've been weightlifting and doing aerobics for an hour or so each day to get as fit and strong as I possibly can before the academy starts.  I'm sporty and I was a wrestler in high school so I have a good foundation of strength and fitness, but I have definitely ramped up the intensity of the workouts in preparation for this career.  I'll be 35 in October so I'm older than most of the new recruits, but I'm going to give it my best shot! @SportyShorty07,

Thank you so much for the pic of the water bottle. I am going to get one for sure, so, maybe it will help me to drink more water because I know I should!

@meallen616  You're very welcome! These cute and colorful water bottles were a major game changer for me in terms of my water intake.  The website to get the BKR glass water bottles is mybkr.com  I love the fun colors and the different sizes of glass water bottles that they offer and the fact that they are glass so the water never has a plastic taste Smiley Happy.  A cute water bottle is the first step to making water intake more fun and I think you'll really enjoy it! Smiley Very Happy

The water bottle makers are cashing in on this . People can't leave their houses without water for fear they will get stranded , become dehydrated and die . Crazy !

That's all I drink is water. We have a reverse osmosis system. I have been drinking at least 80 oz of water per day in this heat.

You need even more water if you are taking a diuretic since they cause dehydration?

My MIL takes them so she is dehydrated from it which is causing dizzy spells so she falls out of her chair. I told DH she either needs to stop taking them or drink water? The doctor just wants to add more pills? She doesn't need more pills. She doesn't drink enough water. She says she doesn't like it.

Drinking just plain water, and a lot of it is not healthy.
