Dr. Fung's fasting has helped countless numbers of diabetics achieve more normalized blood glucose values. Many of his patients have gone on to take half of their insulin dosage if Type 1 and no insulin if Type 2.
Everyone is different. Plenty of condemnation of his methods but the same can be said of other dietary programs dependent upon whom you listen to.

Just goes to show there is no one size fits all when it comes to dietary advice. If I eat in the morning I eat twice as much throughout the day. It sets up my appetite to crave more and more. If I eat around lunchtime, I eat a salad and am full for the rest of the day. I need a very light supper to feel satisfied.

@sidsmom wrote:I believe Mother Nature naturally gave us the sensation of when
not to eat. Looking at a clock, i.e. 16-8, 5:2, etc, is just an
unnecessary distraction. It's definitely a provocative topic,
as of late.
Many plant based doctors will say, 'don't major in minor things'
meaning...worry about what you put IN your mouth, not the time.
I'll let Mother Nature guide me...she's always the best teacher!

During our conversation with Intermittent Fasting, I was informed of a webinar tonight by the founders of 'Mastering Diabetes'. I don't have diabetes, but the creators, Cyrus Khambatta, PhD & Robby Barbaro are both T1 & eat a raw vegan lifestyle....very high carbohydrate diet.
Their carbohydrate to insulin ratio is in the 21:1-31:1 range....lots of carbs, very very low fat, which allows them to be more insulin sensitive, not a need for very much insulin, even as a Type1 diabetic. Love hearing their stories!
Anyhoo....tonight they are talking about Intermittent Fasting. I'm signed up & ready to listen. I'll be curious to see how my intuitive eating could be improved by this practice...especially since they are vegan & low fat, a healthier way of eating. I'll have an open mind!
If interested? Just go to their website, Mastering Diabetes, and sign up free for the live broadcast tonight. Thanks for planting that IF thought!
