I have had a sickening headache since early this morning,   I had it the day before as well but it did not last all day.

I have popped about 8 Excedrin but so far it has not budged.  I tried my best to stay busy today, I wish I could throw up, I think I would feel better...any advice.  I really should not take any more Excedrin.

Please go to the ER, this happened to me a few years back and the headaches turned out to be my BP, dangerously high. I was in the hospital for four days, don't ignore it.

Lay down in a dark quiet room. Use ice bag or ice as cold as you can stand it on your head. Lay very still, if possible use noise machine, or very soft music to soothe. Sucking on ice will help with nausea.

Try to sleep.

Too much of headache rx causes rebound headache.

Is it sinus? The weather and allergies may be contributing to pain greatly.

 Eat starch to absorb rx.

Good luck, I know how bad a headache can be.

@Mom2Dogs  It could be a sinus infection, but if the headache persists, call you doctor. This happened to me once, the headache wouldn't go away and I had constant nausea, so off to the ER.  It was three and a half weeks before I was diagnosed, suffered with the headache the entire time,. lost weight, finally was sent for a MRI and that showed a cyst in my sinus and infection.

Re: Headache.....

[ Edited ]

Thanks for the quick replies, much appreciated....I don't think it is sinus infection as I have no sinus symptoms.

....this might be a dumb question but my pulse is normal, so I am thinking my blood pressue would not be high, correct?

edited to add:  I did wonder if it could be weather related.  Headache started yesterday and it was a nice day but today has been windy and rainy.  Maybe my head knew the weather was changing....

Wrong!  Pulse is not directly related to blood pressure. Pulse is how fast, meaning quick or often occurrence of each beat.  Blood pressure is pressure on blood vessel walls on the beat ( systolic) and between beats ( diastolic) . High BP can cause your headache. Untreated high BP can lead to stroke. If you have no way to test your own BP, ask if a neighbor has a machine, or any fire station can do it or an ER or urgent care location. If there's no relief from Excedrin then common sense suggests changing the analgesic, not taking more of the same! EXcedrin  contains acetaminophen and aspirin and caffeine. So you try a Differnt formulation like ibuprofen, instead. Or adjust your comfort with  ice packs and dark, cool room as others have correctly suggested.

If you decide to buy a BP tester, buy only one using an arm cuff, not wrist. Best brand is Omron. Sold in every drugstore. Easy to use, simple setup with big display, batteries last very long. Best used often enough to be able to see a pattern or trend.

Hope you feel better soon. Stop Excedrin and look for different solutions and seek medical advice if iheadache lasts 24 hours.

Hi @Mom2Dogs,

Sorry to hear this. No advice from me. Will ask if you know your blood pressure. If not?
