I have never been hugged by a doctor. A few have extended their hand for a hand shake, but lately, this stopped because of COVID.

I had a laugh. If he hugged me I don't know which of us would be out the door screaming first! Probably him since he's closer to the door.

Haven't read the replies but since it didn't make you feel uncomfortable, the quick hugs were a good thing. People need human contact and I've heard there are health benefits with it which maybe your dr has come to understand.

No. And I think it's about boundaries. I have about 8 different physicians and I like that our relationship is strictly business.

Oh no never hug me ever. I don't like it and am not the huggy type. You may touch me on my arm or back but don't give me a hug. Even if you ask if you can I cringe inside. My doctors have only given me a handshake in greeting which I can do without but never any hugging thank you very much.

My female gyno always hugged at the end of the exam, but she made it clear that since Covid, no more hugs.

I have seen a myriad of different doctors over many years. All but 1 of them are males, several are good friends, 1 is my nephew-in-law.
With my many years of seeing Gastro Doctors I haven't always gotten the choice. Didn't always know which doctor was doing my Colonoscopy, when I was in the hospital. This was when I was having a Colonoscopy every 3rd day.
Right now my regular Gastro Doctor is a female. I might add she is young and very pretty.
Now back to your question.
No doctor has every hugged me, Primary or Specialist.

I am a hugger...no Dr. hugged me.
I hugged the 2 Dr.'s that saved my life.

@Suzeecat I have been going to my Primary Care Physician for 30 years. Except to check my heart. BP and breathing, he is 20 feet away from me the entire visit.
But I would like to ask, since you are 67, are you on Medicare?
My last regular visit to my PCP, the nurse had quite a few questions that she asked me. I suspect from Medicare. Medicare have had a few questionnaires in recent years. The nurse asked was I depressed? Was I having any anxiety? Did I have someone to discuss my troubles. Did I think about suicide. A bunch of questions like that.
Maybe your Doctor's practice decided to make sure that Seniors got a hug once in awhile.
