Re: Does Anything OTC Work on Toe Nail Fungus

You can buy a product called PIGGY PASTE THAT 100% works.

I applied it to my big toe nail, then put a bandaid on it.  I did it every day for about 9 months until my nail grew out.  I kept cutting the damaged nail back.

My nail is perfect now.  I got fungus under my nail when my husband stepped on my toe and damaged the nail by splitting it in half. It was really bad looking and I was devastated.

I bought the product from Amazon.  I think Walmart sells it too. It didn't work overnight, but it 100% worked with no horrible smell, no burning and no staining.  I used fabric bandaids and showered and applied the product and a bandaid every day.

My podiatrist was shocked when he saw the  results.

Re: Does Anything OTC Work on Toe Nail Fungus

I had read that Vicks Vaporub would work and my husband has horrible fungus on his left big toe nail.  He started putting that on his toe nail, then his socks and shoes and started his day.  That was about 6 weeks ago.  I had totally forgot about it and one night I caught siight of his toenail and it's half way grown out.......the new growth does not have any fungus.  This stuff works.  I am now using it on my toenail fungus.  I slather vicks on my toes, put some white socks on and go to bed.  Easy peasy......

Re: Does Anything OTC Work on Toe Nail Fungus

Not to put a damper on things, but I used Vicks Vaporub religiously on my fungus toenail and it did nothing. I'd say that it probably depends on the type of fungus infection you have.

For what it's worth, I still have that bad nail on my big toe after seeing two different foot doctors and using a prescription med for a year.  The doctor cultured my nail and prescribed the med recommended for that specific organism.

I'm now trying an OTC med recommended by the doctor but it's too soon to tell if it's working.   A poster here gave me the name of a different OTC to try if this one doesn't work.  I'm making a list of all of the suggestions from this thread, that's for sure. I hate not being able to polish my toenails.Smiley Sad

Hi @shoesnbags ,

Ugh...

Nail fungus can be really difficult and who would think that there would be different species of it, you know? Smiley Sad

I have also heard of soaking feet in Listerine, but Listerine has similar ingredients in it to Vick's Vaporub.

If I were to try any of these types of remedies, I myself would check with a Podiatrist first since I'm a Type 2 Diabetic.

I'm prone to issues with my feet anyway, so I would want to make sure that I would run anything past him first that I've heard of trying to use.

Re: Does Anything OTC Work on Toe Nail Fungus

Yes Fungi Nail which I have mentioned before.  You brush it around nail bed and under the toe nail. Use this twice a day until nail bed grows out.  Took me 7 months but it worked.

Vicks did nothing for me, I tried it first, no go.

It takes time for sure.  Each pen I used was about 30 dollars but worked with time and patience. It's at Walgreene/s Amazon, etc.

What does fungus on a toenail look like? I'll go see if pics on Google are any good.

Well, I googled and there are a few different kinds of fungus so that might explain why some of these remedies worked and some didn't.

Ask your pharmacist.  I've been seeing a medication for it on TV for months now.  It's OTC.  I don't remember the name.

Re: Does Anything OTC Work on Toe Nail Fungus

Doc gave me prescription- no good. I tried a few drugstore items. Also no good.

When nothing else worked, I tried Vicks … it worked great and really didn’t take more than a few days. I use it everyday now as preventative.
