My dad died this morning of metastatic esophageal cancer.
He was 67 years old.
MistriTsuirrel...I am so sorry. I read something recently which I know means a lot to me since I lost my father to cancer:
The heart of grief:
Its most difficult challenge,
is not letting go of those who have died
but instead making the translation
from loving in presence
to loving in separation.
God bless...

Dear Mistri, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. You were a loving, caring daughter right to the end. He was so lucky to have you there with him through all the pain and suffering. He might have not been able to tell you how much he cared for you or appreciated all that you did for him, but I know it was in his heart.
Please take care of yourself now and let yourself grieve. I used to tell my son--after his brother died--that my tears washed away my sadness. Try to take yourself to someplace quiet for peaceful time with thoughts of your dad.
We are all here for you when you feel like connecting. Much love and hugs from all of us!

mistri, my sincere condolences to you on the loss of your father. You have shown grace and unselfishness and have overcome obstacles in caring for him during his horrible illnes without complaing or feeling sorry for yourself. I hope he passed away in peace without the fear and pain he has had to endure. Best wishes to your mother, also, and hope you and she will find comfort at this difficult time.

I'm very sorry, mistri. My heart goes out to you, and my thanks do as well. I want you to know that I keep a keen eye on my GERD problems because of you and your dad. I had an endoscopic exam three weeks ago and everything was okay for now. I will continue to keep on it. I want you to know that your dad's story is helping others.
With heartfelt sympathy to you and your family,
pup

Mistri ~
I am so very sorry for your loss. I know your journey has been difficult through the illness and now the death of your dad. May you find some sense of comfort knowing he is at peace.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Mine also passed at 67; it's the median age for this dreadful disease.
He is now free from the cage that kept his body prisoner.
Hang in there,
