So, I guess we'll never know if K2 should be taken with D2 or away from it.  Maybe it really doesn't matter.

I was taking it in my morning yogurt and my D at night before bed since that was the most conveniemt for me.  But, I found a Vit D w/K2 supplememt at Costco so I'm going to try that, although it'll be awhile before I use up my current supply of OTC Vit. D since I'm cutting back on it AFTER A DISCUSSION WITH MY DOCTOR when looking at my yearly labwork.  He did not suggest I stop taking it, just cut back a little since my numbers were edging higher.  I still take prescription D.

@Icegoddess good thing you put in caps that you talked to your doctor, or you likely would have been scolded. Once my doctor answers my questions, I will be brave and post here what she says. I will also talk to my sister-in-law who is a nurse practitioner but enjoys learning about and practicing more natural ways of treatment.

@SilleeMee I almost tagged you and a few others, including @Shelbelle, because you seem to have done a lot of research on supplements in general. I ended up not doing that, because I know some people won't respond if posts directly tag only certain people. Now, I wish I had. lol

As an aside, several years ago, I had surgery and had a subsequent infection. I was put on round after round of antibiotics, which caused a massive, persistent yeast infection. I have a lot of faith in my gynecologist, and he tried every trick in the book to get me over it. I took so many different medications, and it would clear up, and then come back. One day, I posted my frustration on this forum and asked if anyone had any ideas of how to get me over it, because the yeast infection had been going on for about a year by this time with a pattern of clearing up and then coming right back. One poster (how I wish I could remember who it was, but it's been too long ago) suggested to take a probiotic made by Mega Food called Mega Flora Plus, which had 14 strains and 50 billion cultures. I started taking that and never had another yeast infection again. So doctors truly do not know everything, and sometimes, supplements can be the answer.

@Ainhisg I'm sorry so many jumped on you like that.  It seemed you only wanted opinions/input which also might drive more questions for your doctor, not that you were trying to go it on your own.

@Icegoddess

Vitamin D is one of the vitamins that gets stored in the fat cells and is used as needed. The fat cells serve as reservoirs and they can get low if not replenished.

It's not necessary to ingest vitamin D with vitamin K for things to work as intended. You already have stores of it in your fat cells. Having those two supplements in one capsule is just an insurance that you'll take the vitamin D to replenish your reservoirs.

I am deleting all my posts on this thread, because even though I stated that once I got my test results, that I was going to ask my doctor my questions, the majority of responses said to ask my doctor.  lol

@Ainhisg

I know how you feel.  That drives me crazy!!  The majority just don't read the original post.  It happens almost ever time someone asks a question like you did.  It's insulting to the poster.

The OP asked for others for their thoughts on a lengthy, detailed medical post. Posters read and seemed to have clearly understood the post. What's insulting is to assume they didn't. When a poster ask the board for their thoughts on what they posted, and posters respond with their thoughts then one should expect not all answers will be in keeping with what they want or hope to hear.

If one wants more specific information, then more specific questions should be asked. No something open ended such as...what are your thoughts.

@Icegoddess Very kind of you to say. I truly did just want opinions, experiences, and advice. I haven't bought any k2 or d3, because I am still learning about it and waiting on test results. But I did want to have my research done with possible strengths and dosage instructions in mind. I read an old thread on here where one poster's doctor told her to just (paraphrasing) "pick something up at the store" and gave no guidance as to amounts or instructions. I don't think my doctor would be that way, but one never knows.

And most of the reading I have done are medical studies like the screen shot below. I watched YouTube videos concerning k2 while cooking. I see nothing wrong with any of that, as knowledge is power. What I gathered from all of it is that there are no set in concrete rules concerning supplementing with these two vitamins, so I was wondering about real life experiences.

@Etoile308  I could not have asked more specific questions than I asked. Surely you would have to agree with that. I was just surprised that it did not open up a discussion concerning the use of vitamin k2. Instead, almost every response was to just wait and ask my doctor. Wait on what? I was just wanting to hear other people's advice, opinions, and experiences with vitamin k2. I even stated at the end of my post that I was going to ask my doctor the same questions once my calcium score result was available. Until then, I was hoping to read other k2 user's experiences. I don't think anyone who responded even takes k2.

@Ainhisg I think it was me who suggested Mega Foods Mega Flora Plus for yeast infections. I've taken them every day since 2008 and have never had another. It's a great probiotic. I buy mine from VitaCost.

@Effie54 well, I cannot thank you enough! You truly saved me, and I will forever be thankful for your recommendation! Yes, I buy it from Vitacost, so I know it was you! And I still take it every day. I never want to experience anything like that again. May you have a very blessed day!!!

I think if you wanted to hear of other's experiences with taking vitamin K2 then that should be the thread you post and the question you ask.

I also don't think a lot of threads get much activity on this board late at night.
