I recently purchased a bag of psyllium husk powder, but it does not dissolve well in a glass of water, which is what I prefer to mix it with. Can any of you recommend a brand that dissolves well in water or if any of you take capsules which brand you prefer?

I take this one and it dissolves in water for me. I put about one heaping teaspoon in a glass of water.

@Natureluvr

I think that's the nature of the powder itself, not necessarily any one brand.

We used to buy the NOW brand in bulk for years.  Now that I'm alone I just get Konsyl since it's easily available to me at Walmart.

I use room temperature water since I find it mixes better than with cold water.  I fill the glass halfway, add the psyllium (and I also use it with my greens and reds powders) and stir.  I break up any chunks well, then continue filling the glass, stirring continuously.

Once everything is mixed well, I drink immediately since once psyllium starts to sit it will congeal.  If the mixture starts to get thick before I can finish the entire glass, I just add more water and stir well.

The key is to just stir well and break up any clumps immediately.  It's ground plant husks so it doesn't really "dissolve".

It does not "dissolve" like milk in coffee.  Maybe more like suspend?  Can reserve a bit of the water and do a second shot of the dregs.

You're welcome Woman Happy @Natureluvr

When I say 'dissolves' that means it has no clumps but it doesn't mean the liquid becomes clear...it's very cloudy with tiny specks of psyllium floating around.

Isn't psyllium powder the ingredient in Metamucil? It comes in capsule form now and is easy to swallow. No mixing, no mess.

The brand I have barely dissolves at all. I do usually add it to ice cold water so maybe that’s the problem. I then spend a lot of time trying to crush the clumps with the back of my spoon, which often end up sticking to the glass so I don’t even know how much I’m consuming.

Just make sure you drink enough liquid if using the pills.

@Natureluvr

It will dissolve easier in room-temp water or water from your tap and not ice-cold.
