I have found out so much about dehydration!
Most of my life I have NEVER drank much water. I just have not been thirsty enough..lol
But since I have been a been sick ,my Dr informed me I am very dehydrated...... my lips are peeling badly something that I have NEVER had in my life, not even in winter.A huge sign of dehydration............
So I began forcing myself to drink at least 2 glasses of water a day.
WOW, My nails are growing strong and long, something they have NEVER done my whole life.
After 6 months my lips are almost but not quite healed.
AND...... if you drink a full glass of water in the morning when you get up.....lol........you will poop so much better and regularly.................lol
WHO KNEW...............lol

I am one of those that rarely ever feels thirsty. I have to make an effort to be sure to drink my water. And I feel, that for me, it really makes a huge difference. In my digestive system and overall well feeling.
I take my water with me any time I go out. I am always sipping it!

as we age...we tend not todrink enuf...MD told me....
first thing in the morning drink a glass of the warmest water you can stand (10ozs)
then gradually increase each day
Not drinking water can cause blood clots...Yes the blood does get "thick"..pain in your knees and shoulders could be from clots forming
optimun water (including vitamen water drinks, coffee, )=take your weight, divide by 2..
...that is how many ozs of water you should drink EVERY DAY
with all the things we do to improve our health...drinking water is the easiest, and most beneficial

What has helped me the most is to get an insulated water bottle (I like Contigo brand). I have it by my side all day and night and bring it with me in the car. I like my water pretty cold and this keeps it cold for hours which makes it easier to drink. I also try to drink at least one cup of hot water with lemon each day. Tastes good and helps keep my kidney stones at bay which is a plus!

Hydration is very important. I have a pet theory that a lot of the snow shoveling heart attacks are triggered by dehydration. When you're out shoveling snow you're typically dressed for winter because it's cold out. The snow shoveling heats you up and you start to perspire losing hydration. Your blood gets harder and harder to pump and pretty soon a clot forms and you have a heart attack. When you're doing strenuous stuff in the summer you're hot and tend to be more aware of the need to stay hydrated. If nothing else, you'll drink to cool off. In the wintertime, you tend not to need to cool off and you don't drink as much when you're exercising and you're more prone to dehydration. I make it a point to drink like a fish and dress a bit cooler when I'm shoveling snow. I think there's a connection there that's largely ignored.

'The solution to pollution is dilution'.
Water is needed to help the body flush out the stuff it doesn't need...like waste products from metabolism, food and other things you consume. Otherwise those become toxins (pollutants) in the body and can build up over time and pose a health threat which can lead to more serious stuff....disease and even cancer.
I have something similar to this on my counter. I have it placed right where I can see it so that I am reminded to drink a little bit each and every hour.

Water is essential, more so the older we get.
I didn't see anyone mention the brain, but water is essential for the brain to operate properly.
