@nanny24 Where I live, people are coughing and sneezing all over the place.  I know people who have had covid several times.  It can be different each time.  I finally had it this year.  I was exhausted for a long time.  No picnic.  I mask near people

Presumably people take a test to see if their symptoms really are Covid. If you test positive, you quarantine for 5 days. If your symptoms are gone after the 5 days or they are resolving and you dont have a fever, you can go out with a mask. Wear the mask for 5 days. The fever is key. If you have a fever, you quarantine until it's gone.

I got very sick on the first of this year. Fever of 102, headache, body aches, congestion,  exhaustion, coughing, coughing, coughing,  the whole deal. My fever broke after a few days but I still didn't feel better. Was not eating or drinking. Fever came back. I went to the urgent care yesterday. The doc said she had seen alot of this and thought it was rebound covid. She gave me steroids and cough meds. She said you just have to treat the symptoms and stay away from others. This has really been a rough time. I hardly ever get sick but have had a few things since Thanksgiving. Some of my family had covid over the holidays. They didn't know til everyone had visited.

My husband is finally home from the hospital after 3 admitted with in 4 weeks , once by air transport helicopter . He finally got diagnosed with covid pneumonia  . Lungs are damaged from the covid and need to regenerate , they said it takes months . He is on continuous oxygen , gets really short of breath just from walking a few steps and has a nurse coming to see him . He sleeping in a recliner . Has a bed side commode , on tons of meds and uses a nebulizer 4 x a day . He also has a kidney transplant that was working perfectly until this

        . l am his caretaker, am 76 years old .  l am still recovering from extensive knee surgery,  had an infection in my knee replacement , Drs took the whole replacement out and placed a temporary , l was in a wheelchair for 4 months , then got a whole new knee replacement. In a leg brace for 4 months and just getting better , so l really can't help with moving him around .

        That's what Covid can do to you !  He was a school bus driver until this happened !  Now he is unable to walk a couple steps without a breathing issue . People laugh and say it's all a lie about covid .  They should be in my shoes for a day !

Re: Covid Quarantine Length

@judianne

I have read some of your other posts prior to this one. I felt bad for you having to go through so much with your own problems, and now this. It boggles my mind how some have gotten hit with such heavy medical loads to carry, and all at the same time.

My hope is that both of you will see much better days soon ahead, in all aspects of your life.

"People laugh and say it's all a lie about covid".

I have never met anyone that laughed or said covid was a lie. Like myself, many around me did not believe everything that was said, and done, about this virus. But there was nothing other than concern for all that contracted this full blown virus, no laughter or saying it was a lie.

Best wishes to you and your husband. You both will be in my thoughts. 🙏

Well, my hubby and I finally got Covid after dodging it all this time. His PA told him to quarantine 5 days after the symptoms started, then mask for 2 days. My Dr. said quarantine 5 days after the symptoms started, then mask for 5 days. Everyone says differently, how do we know what is correct?

@nanny24   DH got it last week and gave it to me, all because he refused to wear a mask when he went out, which I always told him to do.  I am on my fourth day.  It isn't a bad as viruses I have had in the past, but I credit that to the last vaccine just before Christmas.

I don't go out often, and always wear a mask.

Most doctors in our area are saying 5 days and "you're good to go" but wear a mask for a few days when you go out.  I'm going for my yearly physical at the beginning of February and will ask my doctor her opinion on that.  I had Covid in July and also need to ask her if I should get boosted again, I was originally vaccinated and had one booster.  A few of my friends doctors have said not to get any more boosters, don't know the reason why, another question for my doctor.  Covid is very serious for some and not for others, so I don't really no what to think, I'll discuss it with my doctor and go from there.  I'm 68 but have no underlying health issues, that I'm aware of.  It may be a case by case decision based on your personal health.  Talk to your doctor, then decide what's best for you.
