You will do great. I just had my left eye done 2 weeks ago and my right eye will be done this next tuesday. Quick surgery, took them about 10 minutes to do mine. What took the longest was check in. I had to use 2 kinds of drops 4 times a day for a week, then just 1 twice a day for the second week. No eye patch, Eye was very light sensitive for a few days after surgery so have sun glasses handy, but no pain at all, no black eye and it was pretty amazing how well I could see out of that eye. I went back the day after surgery for a check up, and then a week later.

Ditto to everything @poppinfresh wrote. No pain, much improvement, easy "recovery" and not worth worrying over. Obviously, you should arrange to be driven to and from the surgery location, so you'll need to count on a reliable, patient friend or relative to escort you and wait. Stay calm and be ready to enjoy your immensely improved vision nearly instantly. Best wishes.

@halfpint1, I have had both eyes operated on. It is a breeze. Outpatient, you will have a patch on your eye and taken off the next day. You won't believe how clear everything is -- it's amazing. Then you have to use eye drops and I honestly don't remember for how long but not over 2 weeks. Cheer up because you will be seeing for the first time! ![]()

I've had both eyes done - but what do you mean by......."she doesn't do laser"?
What procedure does she do?

I had both done (1 month apart) in my 50's and it was the best thing I've ever done!
It's freaky to have surgery on your eyeball itself, but it was truly a breeze, thanks to sedation!
My vision was blurry the day of and the day after, but then cleared up. It's amazing how you can now see things so clearly!
Good luck with your surgery!![]()

As many have said, myself included, there is nothing to this surgery. Chances are, you may not even remember the actual surgery being done, even though you will not be under a general anesthesia.
Both my eyes have been done. I went with a Multi-focal iol lens in my left eye(which cost me $1700), and a regular, fully paid for by Medicare, Mono-focal iol in my right eye. I went from years of tri-focals to wearing no glasses, even for reading tiny print.
Eye drops are a pain, more a nuisance actually. The surgical procedure? Shouldn't even cause your heart rate to increase, it is that simple. Oh, if only all procedures were so easy and quick.

Halfpint: WHY are you waiting until May if you can't even see with a magnifying glass????

My husband is getting his first eye done next week. He's 68 and was given a choice of different kinds of implants. He opted for the Crystalens ($2500 each eye) because he wants to see the golf ball and he has astigmatism. He has to use 3 different kinds of eye drops for 4 week and then 2 kinds for another 2 weeks, which means 6 weeks of eye drops. The drops are Gatifloxacin, Prednisolone and BronSite.

I, too, wonder what you mean when you say she doesn't do laser. If she is doing the procedure our parents went through decades ago, find a new doctor who uses the latest technology. In addition, why is she having you wait so long?
