Re: CDC: Ebola Worst-Case Scenario Has More Than 500,000 Cases

This guy apparently went to the hospital with flu-like symptoms and nobody asked him if he'd been out of the country. He voluntarily told a nurse but she apparently took no action.

Are you referring to the timeline shown in the Bloomberg link above? In the video? I was wondering about the same thing. He went to the hospital with symptoms, and was sent home? Then went back by ambulance 2 days later?

Re: CDC: Ebola Worst-Case Scenario Has More Than 500,000 Cases

It's insane! There should be ZERO planes allowed to come here from that area. The disease is here, & I don't believe what the CDC is saying for one second. They tell us NOT to be worried. You've got to be kidding.

In cold climates (ours), its aerosol transmission profile will be like that of the Avian Flu, a disease that spreads by droplets caused by coughing, sneezing or talking. Scientists say that in the tropics the Ebola virus gets desiccated by the heat, damaged by the humidity and sterilized by the sun. It WILL spread here.

Re: CDC: Ebola Worst-Case Scenario Has More Than 500,000 Cases

This was MSN headline news on my computer....

"United Airlines on Dallas Ebola patient: CDC 'has informed us that the patient said he flew part of his trip on United'; 'While the CDC states it is unnecessary for it or the airline to contact others who were on the patient's flights, United is providing information about the flights United believes the patient took, based on information provided by the CDC' - statement."
I think they want the disease to spread!!!

Maybe we should have no planes coming from anywhere? Would that work for you?

People don't just come directly from those countries...they could have been in other places too.

There is no way we can "shut down" the USA and keep people out. There is way too much commerce - we are all intertwined now.

I trust the MDs and other experts...NOT you.

I think they know the disease CAN'T spread when you aren't showing any symptoms.

Were you this freaked out over AIDS too?????

Re: CDC: Ebola Worst-Case Scenario Has More Than 500,000 Cases

More people in America will die from the results of Obesity than Ebola.

More people in America will die from the results of Heart Disease than Ebola.

More people in American will die from the results of Cancer than Ebola.

I find it unusual people are getting into a pitched frenzy over something that would very, very, very, very remotely affect them....all the while, they are living with the affects of Heart Disease, Obesity and/or Cancer. It doesn't make sense. Maybe someone needs to 'Ice Bucket' Ebola.

Sidsmom: That may be true, but we must do everything we can to prevent an epidemic here. I'm sure you agree. There is currently no easy cure.

Since the patient is in Texas, perhaps we need to ban people from traveling in and out of Texas.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

Re: CDC: Ebola Worst-Case Scenario Has More Than 500,000 Cases

Banning flights is just a political thing and will make the global problem worse. If someone infected wants to come; they'll come. They'll just do a two flight journey and spread the infection into two countries (destination and connecting) instead of one.
