I know it definitely helps animals with pain and calming issues and vets are embracing it as a treatment but a lot of doctors just want to prescribe what they know (chemical drugs) and don't care to research it.  I would think it would depend on what the issue is also.

I tried the cbd oil.  It seemed to take the edge off pain but did not help me sleep. I did not reorder

My daughter's 12 year old Golden Retreiver was diagnosed with bone cancer in early September - he was limping and in noticable pain. She started giving him CBD oil and he did a complete turnaround - no limping and is playful again, of course she is also giving him the meds as prescribed for pain. The Vet said the cancer is not getting worse, so it has been a great thing.

I tried it for my anxiety.  Its a very sutile calming effect.  I just seemed to notice it one day.  So its not a big slap in the face thing.  It did not help me with sleep tho.  I took a dropper full twice a day.  Please do your research and buy from a reputable company.  I got mine for Charlottes Web after seeing the company on the Today show.

Doctors aren't researchers.  Doctors are supposed to proscribe what they know works and need some sanctioned research and approvals to know it isn't harmful.  Harmful at least as best known and documented at the time.

Unless they are involved in some research program and talk to the patient about it, I don't think they are usually too keen on unverified things.

@SoonerI do like that my doctor knows what is out there & will discuss pros & cons with me. She doesn't just prescribe something at my first question. She will discuss options with me & let me try anything that she thinks won't be harmful. Like you said.

My sister & my daughter are both using some CBD oil. They both said that it does take the edge off of anxiety & slows their brains down a little so that they can focus a bit better.

It's not dramatic & it doesn't do anything else.

My daughter gave me a bit to try, but I haven't tried it, yet. I get depressed, but not anxious or not able to focus, so I'm not sure it will do anything for me.

No they're more keen on prescribing drugs because they get kickbacks from the drug companies.  Drs aren't usually keen on recommending any kind of natural substances or supplements either.
