@hick As long as your Dr. says it's OK, and you feel fine, go enjoy yourself! Just realize you might tire more easily than usual, so pace yourself.
I had my appendix removed the same way more than 30 years ago (in fact, I was the first person to ever have it done that way in that hospital). I was a lot younger then, and still tired easily for a couple of weeks.

Also I might not pick a cruise for a vacation after surgery. Sometimes when one passenger gets sick it travels and many get sick. Again, after just having surgery I would not want to be in that position.
@Janey2 I'm sure she didn't "pick a cruise for a vacation right after surgery"...cruises are usually booked months in advance, and the OP said her surgery was an emergency. Also, seasickness is not contagious, and since she is otherwise healthy, she's no more likely than anyone else to get any other kind of illness. If her Doctor says she's OK to go and she wants to go, she should!

@vermint I am well aware that seasickness is not contagious I am just mentioning it as something to consider. There are other conditions to consider like covid. I know two people who just had it and were pretty sick, and that is contagious.

Speculation is unrelated to opnions the OP is asking for. If we all lived in fear of the "what ifs" we'd all be miserable.

@JeanLouiseFinch But if you don't consider the what if's that is another word that starts with "stu". . .or the "sorry" word.
Life is about trying to hit the middle road on so many things--and it's not the easy road is it?

If you're cleared by your physician, and you want to go, then enjoy. I had my appendix out many years ago before they did it laparoscopically. That took 2 entire weeks to heal. Do be careful of Covid.

@kitty60 Tylenol is not harmless just because it's available OTC. My surgeon warned me that it can damage kidneys and to not take it indiscriminately. IMO it's not very effective anyway.

@hick Be aware, in case you've never cruised, that there's a ton of walking involved in cruising. The ships are huge and getting to the dining room or theater may be a hike. Also if you get off the ship, it can be a long, hot walk just to get off the dock. Are you up to all the walking? If not, go through the ship line and rent a mobility scooter for the duration
