I have lost and kept off close to 80 lbs in the last 6 years. I went from a 2 x to a Medium. I see what the scale says and what I look like in the mirror but my brain still has not caught up to my body. Does this make sense to anyone else? Thank you

Yes, it does make sense.  I have read of many people who have lost a lot of weight & are unable to see their "new selves".

Yes, it makes complete sense!   I've heard a lot about that.  Good luck in eventually overcoming it.

Yay you, @I am still oxox !!

Perhaps you will become used to it with time but I'm not sure there is an easy answer for it.

Re: Body dysmorphic disorder

I have heard about it.  I have the opposite problem.

I was always thin and still think I am until I see a picture of myself.  Yikes!  That motivates me to hunker down and lose a few pounds.

Take a picture every now and again.  That should help you see the reality of your weight loss.

Congratulations on your weight loss and being able to navigate maintance.

Re: Body dysmorphic disorder

I believe that many females are insecure about their bodies.  We live in a society that profits from us beng insecure, especially about our body.  I know looks and aging also figures in closely.

I do know anything about this but  I do understand how you feel.  I feel that away about certain things.

Re: Body dysmorphic disorder

Yes I have lost a lot of weight and when I look in the mirror I still see a larger version of me.  I also think this happens to people who end up becoming  anorexic.
