Don't worry Albany, you will NEVER build muscle and get bulky with the Body Blade.
You don't get full contractions with this 'device.'
It's merely a cardio contraption...but hey...and movement is good...right?
Body Blade...Spin Gym...how goofy. You'd save a lot of money if you just bought a few resistance bands, and an exercise ball.

Full contraction is dependent on how one uses the Body Blade. Just as with weights/resistance machines and or any type of band, it depends on the movement more than what it is used, except when you are talking "fixed movements on some resistance machines. Machines like Total Gym and BowFlex are ones that a person can easily "cheat" or choose full contraction or just a "muscle pump".
Cardio? I disagree. If one chooses to use a short and small rise in their heart rate cardio, that is up to them. Have both the big and small body blades and also wear a heart rate monitor during all of my exercises, and have for close to 30 years now. Chest monitors which are well known for their accuracy while those for the ears/fingers/hand grips? Not so much for most exercisers. I know of at least 3 exercises that can be done with the BIG Body Blade that will give a person excellent anaerobic results, but there are way to many other types of exercises that can be used with more specificity if that is how one chooses to train.
I do agree with resistance bands being a lot cheaper, but that can be said for most any type of exercise. Some, myself included, buy a treadmill/elliptical/recumbent/stair stepper, and on and on and on and on. Most can very easily walk out their door and accomplish the same things. That being:Cardio/Resistance/Endurance/Aerobic and or Anaerobic, and again I could list more.
This is a matter of choice, but for most buying a good pair of shoes for the intended purpose/the right clothing for their type of weather/a few short hills and a few long hills, and that is all that is needed for lower body resistance, and also for aerobic or anaerobic training. Again, I have done both and also done both inside and outside just for variety and body joint and connective tissue acclimation for whatever event I was training for at the time.

So, do you like the body blade and feel that it is a good thing for both cardio and perhaps tightening muscle?

I have one. Never used it. Looked like a nice gadget. I am going to start using it. Thanks for this post. It reminded me it was still in the box.

Yes I do like the body blade. Like many other of my exercising devices, I use this as a supplement to other resistance exercises. The best device I have found for all body resistance, and that I can pick up and do almost any place? That is the Tony Little Body Shaper I bought a few years ago.
Body blade for cardio? Even in my best physical conditioning level the only exercise I found that would raise my heart rate to what I consider "cardio", I could not sustain this particular exercise for long enough to a point where I would consider it to be a "cardio workout". Raise my heart rate? Yes. For long enough for cardio gain? No.
I see the body blade and my Tony Little Shaper, along with resistance bands, to be an adjunct to the other regular exercises I do which are mostly on my Total Gym/BowFlex and Free Weights.

Just do planks for core work.
There are plenty of variations, and all are free!!!

You can never get a full contraction using the Body Blade. Sorry.

I have nerve damage in my arms and am limited now after years of weights. I know for a fact that I have built and sustained all over great muscle mass with both the body blade and spin gym. No thanks on the bands as they are difficult to use and can and have snapped causing me to get a black eye! If not used correctly the bands can cause more harm than good!! You do achieve full contractions with the body blade as that is what I rehabbed with and I'm pretty sure a physical therapist with a doctorate knows a wee bit more than the OP who has never tried either!! The therapist who developed it also would know!!
