Re: Are you active?

@hckynut

Wow, I can't even imagine having pneumonia after heart trouble.  I kind of started out like you.  At first I only made it two houses away.  My leg hurt so badly for months where they took the veins for my quadruple.  Next time it was 5 or 6 houses.... than 1/2 a mile...then...a mile.  My neighbors cheered me on when I passed their houses.  It was heartwarming to say the least and spurred me on!  When I was well enough I went  to rehab at the hospital.  I only went 7 times.  Then I started back on my treadmill.  I am up to 25-30 minutes at 2.5 - 3. (speed)  and only doing a 1.5 elevation.  Not great, I know but I actually had another heart attack after the one I had in the emergency room.  I didn't even feel that one.  They waited for a few days to operate.  Then came the ileus.  After three months I was feeling pretty darn good and I got the A virus so I kind of had to start over again after that. That set me back some.

Anyway, things our looking up now.  I had my test last week to see how my heart was pumping and its much better!  When I left the hospital after my surgery I was showing a medium to severe blood pumping problem.  From what I understand that is not uncommon.  Feb. 22 nd I see my cardiologist again and he wants to change the medication they put me on after my surgery (Metoprocol) plus one 325 mg. aspirin every day.  I think they think it is making me have to work too hard to reach my heart rate goal.  You wouldn't believe how hard I have had to work just to get my pulse rate to 120.  Hopefully on new medication that will be possible.  I really don't quite understand everything.  He just told me this is not the medication he would choose for me.  Maybe he will put me back on what I was on before my heart attacks (Norvasc).  It always seemed to work well for me.  Slowly but surely we are working out the kinks and I am adamant about keeping up my exercises as I know how very important it is.

The treadmill I ordered today was a Horizon Adventure.  I checked out others...Sole F 80, Bowflex, Pro Form 2000, life something and several others.  Some were $3000-$5000. I really wanted the Sole but we didn't want to go over $1000.00 and since we had such good luck with Horizon before we thought we would give it another go.  Also, the place we bought it from delivers, puts it together, and has a man that specifically works on treadmills if you need someone and all of this for $1004 so we kept at our budget!

There were many times when I wanted to just lay down and give up but I thought of you and your tenacity and said to myself...."By george, if John can do it, I can do it!  You have been an example and and encouragement to more people than I think you know, John.    I hope you and Cindy are both doing well now.

Fairly active. Could do a better job. Wrenched my knee six months ago doing something simple. Then a big guy  unknowingly backed into me at Costco (holidays). I quickly  put my left arm out to stop him. Bam. Shoulder problems now. Said all of this to say my gym visits have decreased while healing. I still walk and use row machine. Probably best exercises for me at this time. Looking forward to less pain. Getting better. Being active sure does make a difference.

I'm "up and down and in and out" most days - weather permitting.  Rain I can handle.  Snow, I stay indoors.

I'm very active.  But unfortunately, its during the first half of the day, for the most part.  After about 2pm, I sit a lot playing with my iPad, watching tv.  When my Fitbit vibrates, I might get up and walk for a couple of minutes.  But in the mornings, I got to my health club at least five days a week.  I walk two or three miles and usually do two or three classes.  I need to do more in the evening, I think.

Every day...every chance I get.  I like to move around, so I guess my personality drives me.

I sit way more than I should and more than I will when the weather gets warmer. This cold weather makes me want to hibernate and it shows.

My doctor told me today that I need to get an exercise routine. Thats a first.

Relatively speaking. I figure I wouldn't be posting here if I truly was "active." Writing about exercise I can do but actually doing it? I sure could improve how much I move around...
