Even if you do get infected with the cornonavirus, chances are you'll live. Mortality rate is low, about 2%. I'm more concerned about getting sick from the flu....more people die from that, by far.

I could be wrong, but so far this year, the US mortality rate from this years flu is.05%. Much lower than COV-19, so far. Of course these figures are only representing a partial analysis.

It's too soon to get numbers for this year's flu season. Typically, December thru March is the peak flu season so the mortality rate won't be known until sometime after that.

Re: Are there any makeshift alternatives to masks?

People ARE getting silly.

Even in China, the COVI mortality rate is low; it'll be even lower here.

But it's encouraging to know that people are buying "cases" of masks, not only contributing to a shortage (and subsequent price gouging) but also contributing 👍to a panic-driven demand which may keep these masks from those who REALLY need them: health care workers.

@SilleeMee  have we had more than one death from corona? i'm not up to date. i'm also not aware of any evidence of mass transmission here.  of course we have to keep screening people coming in as we have been doing. we did quite a bit of that for Ebola as i recall.

I have not heard of any deaths from the coronavirus in the US.  @ms traditional

It will be all over the news when that happens, I'm sure of that.

@SilleeMee  According to Dr. Fauci on MSNBC, more people are dying from corona virus than ever died from flu.  I don't know how valid his information is.  Just sayin' that's what MSNBC is putting out.
