Lysol has been tested against human coronavirus* but not tested against COVID-19. It's not possible to test Lysol against SARS, MERS or COV-19 as these are pathogens with highly restricted access.

*NL63 (alpha coronavirus)

*OC43 (beta coronavirus)

*HKU1 (beta coronavirus)

per CNN re Lysol/Clorox products:

The US Environmental Protection Agency has some guidance: The disinfectants are thought to be effective against the novel coronavirus. But until tests confirm this, its ability to kill the novel coronavirus has not been scientifically proven.

since nothing is conclusive against the new strain, what will others use to keep areas as clean of bacteria as possible? what have you read? what extra precautions will you take?

Re: interesting - Lysol and Coronavirus

If I find the need to disinfect certain hard surfaces then I use 70% isopropyl alcohol to wipe the appropriate things down. I can also put that in a spray bottle and use it on soft surfaces, for example upholstery and linens. I use Lysol Laundry Sanitizer in my wash to disinfect mostly linens, not so much the clothes I wear. Everything else gets cleaned with soap and water.

The EPA has a registry for antimicrobials. Those are the ones recognized by OSHA and other public health safety officials.

What are you supposed to do, carry it with you and spray everything before you touch it or yourself after you come home?

I'll admit to being a bit of a germophobe when it comes to certain things but people are starting to get a little ridiculous over this whole thing.

I just do the same as I always do. I was taught in medical internship school about infection control and that we are to treat all things and people as if they could be potentially infectious. Hand washing is most important of all.

Re: interesting - Lysol and Coronavirus

I have wipes, purell and gloves coming from Amazon today.  Additionally we are going to stock up on pastas, sauces, soups, canned meats, hamburger and cheese.  DH just read a list that LDS church recommends (we don't belong but they stock up) and 2/3s look like a good idea (no dried carrots for us!) such as Pinto beans , rice, dried milk.
