Re: Anybody have a 'flipper' for missing tooth ?

I never heard of a "flipper" tooth.  I'm having an implant done due to an infection in a tooth that needed to be pulled.  That was in August.  I will be going back to the oral surgeon again in May hopefully for the last time.  I have an appliance with a tooth that is ridiculously uncomfortable and I've never used it.  My missing tooth is 2 from my front teeth and it doesn't bother me that there is a gap.  I just haven't laughed or smiled in 7 months--LOL!!

My son does.  He had it made while in high school for congentially missing tooth.  Had terrible experiences with bridge.  It broke recently after 15 years of use and had new one made.  He wears it 24/7.  He never found it uncomfortable.

The prices for any kind of dental work has gotten way out of hand. My recommendation for anyone prior to undergoing any type of work in your mouth ~ temp or perm is to do your due diligence.  Good luck.

Fosamax can cause necrosis if taken for a long period of time. I think 5 yrs is the max.

My mother had one when she was a teenager and it lasted (with a few repairs over the years) until she was in her late 70s whereupon she had to have a bridge, with metal hooks, which she says took her a long time to get used to. She took her 'flipper' out at night and generally not while eating and much preferred her 'flipper'.

I going through inplant now but my missing tooth is way in back on the bottom. My dentist did tell me about flipper tooth but I didn’t like the idea of not eating with it and taking it out at night . The oral surgeon I went to for the implant didn’t like idea of flipper tooth .

This is what I have and was wondering the same thing.  I didn't want to deal with an implant for various reasons so went with the permanent bridge.  That was years ago.

Just got the one tooth on the upper over to the side to deal with. 4,000 for a tooth (private pay) is pricey. If I can wear a flipper when I'm out I'll deal with it.

shoot, if mine was in the back I'd pull it out and go on my merry way. Yeah, sure the surgeon don't like flippers . Mine wants 3,000 to pull out the fractured tooth, put in the abutment, wait 6 months for gum to grow around it then pay the other dentist thousand to 1,500 for the crown. P on that.

Ain't waiting no yr.
