I went without upper front teeth for the 8 months it took to make sure my implant screws had "taken". I didn't care how it looked. My main challenge was EATING.

Double pain - jaw & pocketbook - yikes
Last month one broken front for me & the $5K bill
bridge........
The bad part was I was trying to have a decent smile for my daughters wedding but the guy that makes the partial didn't make it correctly the first two tries so no go. Luckily it was on the bottom front so I was just careful how I smiled for the pictures and it didn't show. Yes what a boring way to spend money!

I have a permanent bridge. No wires and it doesn't come out. Have you considered that?

a fractured tooth I have.
My question is are they comfortable ? I'd prefer the
acrylic type. I tried a bridge before, but , that wire hook I couldn't get used to it.
Do you wear yours all the time ? Can you eat with it in?
I know U take out at night and put in water. I would just wear mine when I'm going out to shop or church.
Any information from somebody who has been there before I would appreciate.
I can't have a implant because I'm on Fosamax for osteoporosis . Flipper is lot cheaper too.
May I ask what being on Fosamax has to do with an implant.

It may cause necrosis of the jaw. @rms1954

You really should google 'side effects of Fosamax'
because it's hard to explain by a lay person.
It's a small percentage chance, but, why they tell
you to make sure when you take it once a week with
full glass of water (8-10 oz) to make sure it goes straight down and not any of it stays in your mouth (jaw)
It can cause necrosis of the jaw bone
I didn't want to take that chance nothing they can do if
it eats up your jaw bone. Looks like since the pill is suppose to build bone why it can do that. Internet can explain it better.

My dentist mentioned a flipper tooth. I never heard of it. After reading about it online where it says you don't want one was all I needed to read. I knew I didn't want one before I read about it. It's for a front tooth so if I do end up needing that tooth pulled I guess I just won't have one. I'm so sick of dealing with my teeth. I'm so done.
My dentist keeps telling me I need an apicoectomy which I already had done along with a root canal, post & crown. Now they say I need another. I went to an Oral surgeon that told me I didn't need anything done. I asked my regular doctor about it. She said if I had an infection in that tooth my white blood count would be up & it hasn't been? I think it's all about the money. Sad but ture.

This is what I have and was wondering the same thing. I didn't want to deal with an implant for various reasons so went with the permanent bridge. That was years ago.

I don't take Fossamax, however I take medication for rheumatoid arthritis and steroids. I'm getting ready for implants and the oral surgeon told me I had to quit steroids due to bone healing.

@SharkE wrote:When I was told you have to wait half the yr. for a implant I said * on that. Being on Fosamax they want you to quit it a month before and not take it again till
a month after everything.
Didn't want to do that either. I didn't think it would take that long. This just the surgeon bill was gonna be almost 3,000 not counting the cost of the crown when it would be finally able to be implanted that would be another 1,000-1,500.
Flipper way is less then 1,000. I'm a widow and just will wear it when I go out in public/church. I'm private pay.
I'm 72 and be my luck to kick the can day after I had the implant and crown. What a waste ! LOL
@SharkE You sound like me! I took my SS earlier than a lot of folks because I said if I died before I got some of it I would be REALLY mad! ![]()
Good luck with your teeth! Teeth fixin' is no fun ever, plus VERY expensive!
