Re: Andrew Lessman - Oatmeal

@Nightowlz It would be a good question to ask Andrew on his website. I might do that sometime.

What is the difference between plant sterols, plant sterol esters, and proprietary sterol blend?

And the fact that the esters are less than the sterols by themselves, does that mean the CC is better or are the esters stronger and you don't need as much?

All questions I would like to ask him.

I'll let you know if I pose those questions on his website; and if so, what his answer is.

Re: Andrew Lessman - Oatmeal

@Nightowlz I was just on his website and sent an "Ask Andrew" email about the differences between the three categories (plant sterol, plant sterol ester, and the sterol blend).

Will let you know what is said when I get a response.

Re: Andrew Lessman - Oatmeal

[ Edited ]

@Nightowlz Got a response this morning from Andrew's team about the difference between the three (plant sterol/ester/plant blend) and how everything compares as to effectiveness.

Thank you for contacting ProCaps Laboratories!

We are so fortunate to have you as a loyal customer, and we are happy to hear how much you love our products.

The plant sterols in CholestaCare are the same as the plant sterols in Ultimate Oatmeal. It is actually CholestaCare that is in the Ultimate Oatmeal.

As you know, ChocoNuvo contains plant sterol esters. The difference is that plant sterols are in a powder form, while plant sterol esters are in an oily or fatty form. That is why ChocoNuvo has such a creamy texture.

The plant sterols in CholestaCare and Ultimate Oatmeal are equally effective as the plant sterol esters in ChocoNuvo. You actually need more plant sterol esters than plant sterols, but that is only because plant sterol esters are larger molecules. The recommended dosage for plant sterol esters is 1,300 mg, whereas free plant sterols require only 800mg.

One CholestaCare capsule is equal to one ChocoNuvo square. Each CholestaCare capsule contains 400mg of plant sterols; each ChocoNuvo square contains 650mg of plant sterol esters. The minimum Suggested Use would be 2 capsules or 2 squares daily.

Ultimate Oatmeal contains 800mg of plant sterols per ÂĽ cup serving, so you would only need to consume one serving daily to meet the minimum Suggested Use.

I hope you find this information to be helpful!

I sent one more email after I received this, as I forgot to ask if you can get too much of the plant sterol/ester/blend. Is it possible to overdo it to the point that it adversely affects you or just isn't good for you in some way? I will let you know what they say.

So, I would say @Nightowlz that you are correct in asking me if I need the CholestaCare. Based upon the information above, it would appear I don't, unless I am traveling and don't or can't take the chocolate (would melt in some of the climates I have been in (sleeping out on the Sahara Desert), and I'm not sure I would want to package up a bunch of zip-lock bags of oatmeal for a six-week trip, which is sometimes the length of my trips.

Re: Andrew Lessman - Oatmeal

@Nightowlz Okay, here is the response to my second email about whether one could, basically, overdose on plant sterols/ester/blend.

You cannot take too much of the plant sterols/esters from a safety standpoint. However, research has shown that taking more than 800mg of plant sterols or 1300mg of plant sterol esters per meal is no more effective than taking those recommend levels.

Also, there is no additional benefit from taking more than 2400mg/3900mg of plant sterols/esters daily.

You may take all three products (CholestaCare, ChocoNuvo, and Ultimate Oatmeal) daily, but you may want to interchange or combine them as if they were all one product. That means, according to research and Andrew’s Suggested Use, you could continue to have your one serving of Ultimate Oatmeal in the morning, and reserve the CholestaCare and ChocoNuvo for lunch and/or dinner. You may consume one or two CholestaCare capsules, one or two ChocoNuvo squares, or one of each with each meal.

I hope that makes sense! I would say, think of the Suggested Use for CholestaCare. Take one or two capsules with each meal or snack. Take one capsule with smaller meals or snacks; take two capsules with larger meals. There is no additional benefits received from taking more than 6 capsules daily.

Now, remember that one ChocoNuvo square is equivalent to one CholestaCare capsule and replace a capsule with a chocolate square as desired. You may also replace two capsules with one serving of Ultimate Oatmeal. Thank you for writing, and have a wonderful day!

@World Traveler

You could have oatmeal for breakfast & choconuvo as snack after dinner.

Use the CholestaCare here & there when not using one of the other products.

Sounds like I will need to add more instead of 1 ChocoNuvo per day. I think I will keep it at 1 until next labs just to see if there is much difference from previous labs.

@Nightowlz My doctor gave me the prescription to get my yearly labs done, but am waiting until January so the insurance will pay for it. Will be interested to see if it has gone down even more from last January's lab results. Have to look up the results; forgot how much it had gone down using his plant sterol products.

Even though I am consistent with the oatmeal and ChocoNuvo, I am not consistent with the CholestaCare, which doesn't seem to matter based upon what Andrew's team emailed me.

Re: Andrew Lessman - Oatmeal

@Nightowlz Well, if yesterday at the office didn't convince me to continue getting CholestaCare, nothing will!

We had a Christmas breakfast for our department, and a whole office party for lunch, plus desserts, snacks, treats throughout the day. I tried to pace myself because most things were homemade and so, so good, but the Devil made me do it! LOL!!!

I was so full, so stuffed, that coming home and have Andrew's good-for-you oatmeal or even ChocoNuvo would have made me throw up. There just was no more room inside me for food.

So I grabbed two CholestaCare (probably should have done four!) and at least I feel like I had something that was going to fight all the bad-for-me stuff I indulged in. WHEW!

Re: Andrew Lessman - Oatmeal

I am a first time purchaser of Andrew's Oatmeal and Oatbran, and I have to say, for me the taste is far superior to anything else I've tried, including products from Bob's Red Mill. I found nothing wrong with the Red Mill brand, I just find that Andrew's tastes better to me, so it's worth the extra money because I actually eat these products rather than having them sit in my cabinet forver. Different things work for different people, and for different reasons, these products work for me so I have no problem paying extra money for them.
