@Kitlynn wrote:Get some eye wash pads called Occusoft. You can get them at Walgreens'. You rub your eyes with them and then rinse with warm water. They are miracle workers! After you do that then put some Bausch+Lomb dry eye drops in your eyes. They also can be bought at Walgreen's. I use Allegra non drowsy allergy pills. I have really bad allergies and my eye doctor recommended that I use these a few years ago and I can't believe how well they work!!!
@Kitlynn I have been using the OcuSoft Plus past couple of days which has really helped a lot. I don't rinse it off. I took an Allegra last night. I slept for 10 hrs. I don't feel as groggy as I did on the other stuff I was taking but still feel tired with sore throat now. I don't like taking that stuff. It all seems to make my heart beat too fast. Thx for the OcuSoft tip.

@maximillianGuess I should check out our Ins to see which Ophthalmologist is covered. We probably only have 1 in town but I'm not sure.
See your primary care physician first for a proper diagnosis. If need be get a referral to an EENT doctor. Claritin will help with itching. @Nightowlz

insurance has never covered my yearly visits to the ophthalmologist, but she is the best here.
i use Loratadine (generic Claritin).

Glad the Occusoft is helping. I always rinse my eyes with hot water after using them but I am sure you don't have to. The Allegra has been recommended to me by my medical doctor and I have high blood pressure but no problems taking it. Of course everyone is different. If you have a sore throat you may be getting a cold or sinus problem. I know it is crazy this time of year and a lot of things going around. Hope you feel better soon and get relief.

When I had an eye infection once, the opthamologist told me to wash my eyes with baby shampoo.
and also to use hot compresses (hot washcloth) as hot as you can stand it.
I'm glad I read this as it reminded me what to do! My eye has been itchy too.
They also said Bausch and Lomb
for dry eyes and not to substitute a generic (but I probably did use a generic).
I also use cold cucumber slices and cold green tead bags-I boil them in water first then put in freezer for a bit.

Pink eye can be allergic conjunctivitis

@Plaid Pants2 wrote:No, itch does not mean allergy.
When I had pink eye, believe me, my eye itched, but it was NOT an allergy.
It was a viral infection.
All an itch means is that there is an irritation of some kind, including, but not limited to, allergies.
Pink eye can be allergic conjunctivitis.

After researching online trying to figure out what I can do to treat pink eye at home. I came across using silver hydrosol. Don't know why I did not think of it.
I got out my Sovereign Silver & put 1 drop in each eye 3 times yesterday & 1 time so far today. My eyes feel so much better. They are not running or itchy. My eyelids & around my eyes are still a little red. Cannot believe how fast this stuff worked.
I was getting tired of blotting my running eyes all day long every day.
