Six months ago, I had severe pain in my lower back and down my left leg when I went to sleep. My doctor told me to buy a new mattress as mine was 16 yrs old. I did that - but the pain continued. During the day, the pain went away - which made me realize that the cause was my thickly-padded, ergonomic computer chair. I could actually feel some pain when I was sitting in the chair. I decided to use my hardwood chair from my dinette set and, for the last month, the pain went away. In case anyone is dealilng with sciatica -- it could be caused by something ur using.

Thank you for posting. Similar problem with my right leg. So much pain in the middle of the night. I even eased up on workouts. I stopped randomly propping up my right leg at work on a ledge under my desk. Felt comfy but I must have stretched, pulled or irritated something. Improved my posture and things gradually got better.

Sciatica itself isn't a disease or condition.  Sciatic just means sciatic nerve pain and there are a multitude of causes for that pain.  Some are as simple as buying a new mattress or sitting on a firmer chair.  My bff "cured" her sciatica buy retiring her high heels.  Before that she had steroid injections and even took oxycodone for a time.

It is a condition and there are medical treatments available, depending on the cause.

@chrystaltree

It's good for people to post their symptoms and what they changed so that the sciatic pain went away. This was all new to me and I don't know anyone who dealt with it. So nice to find a cure.
