When I take Advil for achiness, I take ONE tablet and it works fine for me  I ususally need this 3-4 times a week.  It never bothers my stomach.  Can't seem to get a simple yes or no answer if this can be harmful long term.  My doctor thinks it is ok but advises me to try not to take more than I do.  I don't see how this can be more harmful than taking prescription drugs that have multiple side effects.

I too take an Advil 200mg 2 or 3 times a week.  After I had 2 teeth extracted I was given a prescription for 800mg tablets of Advil.  I needed to take a couple of those a day for about a week.  Have never given a thought to the consequences of long term use.  I do what I need to do.

Yes that is true if you take a lot for a long period of time.

Ibuprofen is a vasoconstrictor. It constricts blood blood flow to the nerves and that's how pain is reduced. But the bad thing about that is blood flow through the kidneys is also restricted and can pose a health risk for older people and people with kidney diseases. Ibuprofen will also increase BP slightly so it can interfere with BP meds.

Advil is a Non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID).  I took much larger doses than the OP over a period of about 35 years and was ordered off all NSAIDs by two doctors because my kidney function had decreased.

@bargainsgirl.  I'm amazed that your doctor didn't know this.  I had blood tests every 3 months for years to monitor for possible damage.
