I have been getting good results for my plantar fasciitis with a secondary treatment for low red blood cells after giving a double red donation. Just wondering if anyone here receives acupuncture. If yes, what issues are you addressing and has it been helpful?

I have had acupuncture for anxiety and it has been amazing. Love it.

Hi! I have done accupuncture now for about 2 1/2 years. It is important to be consistent and to go to someone that knows what they are doing. I go because of a tremor that I have and a bad knee. I found the person I go to through a friend. Do you have any holistic doctor's in your area? They sometimes have someone who does accupuncture in their office. Good luck and let us know what happens. Yup, incredibly helpful for all perimenopausal issues. Love my regular acupuncture sessions!

KathyinColorado, I have been going for a while now, to a clinic in my area. It is a member of POCA, what is called Community Acupuncture. The clinics are nation wide and I think it is a great business model. Payment is on a sliding scale, whatever you can afford between $15 and $35. No questions asked...in fact I have been doing 3x a week to begin cause my foot is very painful and they give me a punch card for 3 visits. It costs me $30, so $10 a visit. Sure beats $100 a visit for a private session...unattainable for most. For anyone who is interested in trying it, google "POCA acupuncture" to find clinics in your area.

buckodi: The person I go to tried to do Community Acupunture for a while. It didn't work out. I do know that it gets done once a month at our local Army base for veterans and it is for free. I only pay $45.00 for a 1 1/2 hour session every month. I am not much of a shopper, so this is what I enjoy doing. Kathy

I have been going once a week or so for almost two years. I first started going after some complications from surgery. She works on whatever is bothering me the most. Sometimes it's stress management/overall wellness, sometimes TMJ/sinuses, circulation, or digestion. I can definitely tell when I miss treatments, like when they have closed the office due to snow. My acupuncturist is moving, so if no one takes over the practice I will be on the hunt for a new one.

My Acupuncturist has treated me for menopausal symptoms, TMJ, sinus issues, arthritis, etc. It's very relaxing and I always fall asleep on the table. I have to pay $70 per session though, so I go every 2 weeks. When I first started I went twice a week b/c insurance paid for most of it. That was a long time ago.

I've tried acupuncture for chronic pain several times. As with most things, it really depends on who is doing it. I haven't had much luck, but I still believe it can be of help for many problems. After all, it's been around for centuries!

I started to go to my daughter's acupuncturist (she has a doctorate in it), after we moved here last summer. She treated me for knee pain, colitis and chronic migraine.

I finally had my knee workup and found that I'm bone-on-bone, so am having a TKA in May, which probably speaks to why the acu wasn't too effective on my left knee.

It wasn't too effective re my colitis and I think that's because I later found out that it was caused by an huge overgrowth of a bacteria for which I am now taking a treatment.

However, the acupuncture has been a big help for my chronic migraine and was a humongous help to my mother's arthritis, from which she had suffered since her early 20s (not RA). She received 80% pain relief for her arthritis from acupuncture!

Good luck!
