Re: 2nd week taking Turmeric

@twinkies,

I also have a connective tissue disease, scleroderma. The turmeric has helped me manage my pain and inflammation. I could not go without it. I do not take anything else as far as pain meds and I hope I will never have to. Sounds like you have a lot of pain. I hope you find relief.Smiley Happy

Re: 2nd week taking Turmeric

I took Turmeric for a month because of recommendations on this board.  I don't remember the dosage, but I took exactly what was recommended.  I couldn't tell any difference at all in my osteoarthritis pain.

Re: 2nd week taking Turmeric

I generally take most posts with a grain of salt myself but I've also researched turmeric on other sites and it seems to help many people.

I purchased a bottle of 60 of those horse-sized capsules.   Only 57 days to go!

I'm sorry it didn't work for you.

Just started taking Turmeric a couple of weeks ago, mainly to see if it helps my generalized osterarthritis..I am a year out from my TKR, & take tramadol twice a day routinely..the last couple of days, I have completely forgotten to take my evening dose (tramadol) AND my operative knee is definitely working better, less stiffness & localized pain..also am noticing I am have much less GI "gurgling" after I eat...so, am hoping this will continue..I have not read many reasons ( actually one, they say to use caution with blood thinners..I assume being on Heparin or warfarin) not to take it & my PCP oks my taking it..

anyone else with improvement while taking it?

@Evie2004  Lessman makes Digest Assure, and if you take this as directed, you may eliminate the gurgling.  I used to get heartburn if I ate butter, etc., now I don't any longer.  I have been taking Curcumin for ten years, as an antiinflammatory.

Re: 2nd week taking Turmeric

Thank you !I am on medicatio as well and it all seems to help . Sometimes you have to use your own judgement as far as supplements go , But Tumeric is a common spice used in food so its really pretty safe

Re: 2nd week taking Turmeric

As far as tumeric goes just be careful if you are onn a blood thinner as larger doses of tumeric should not be taken with blood thinners such as wasrfarin or plavix. Just take what the normal dosage is on the bottle ,

Re: 2nd week taking Turmeric

@Evie2004, can you tell me what you are taking? I shied away from it because I'm on Pradaxa, and when I researched this, I couldn't find any answers. Others on this generation of anti-coagulants couldn't find answers either.

I'm not wild about the flavor, so curry and putting it in smoothies just doesn't cut it for me.

I didn't read this entire thread, but I am now willing to try.

Thanks,

This page may help. You can reference it. Turmeric interacts with blood thinning medications. (Pradaxa is a blood thinning medication)

I may consider Andrew Lessman's turmeric ... it is explained on his Procaps site. Somehow it is processed so that it is protected from digestive enzymes. Sounds right to me.
