Anyone been on either a river cruise or an ocean cruise with Viking?

Some friends went on their first cruise ever on Viking from Barcelona to Rio!!!  They loved it an immediately booked another.

@bargainsgirl Yes I have done both the last couple of years and we booked an ocean cruise to Spain for 2027.

I love Viking!  The service was great and food was good to excellent!  No kids or families so it's not so hectic and noisy, no casino which I what I like.  No nickel & diming you.  The best part is that even though there was almost 1000 people on the ocean ship there was never any lines and you could always find a quiet spot. 

The cons on the river cruise was that the staterooms and bathrooms are very small unless you opt for a suite but it's still manageable.  On the river cruise for dinner in the main dining room you sit with other people which some might not like.  We were fine with that and met so many very friendly people.  You have more dining choices on the ocean cruise.

Next week we are going on Princess to Alaska which is a much larger ship and I think this will be the last time I travel on one of those big mega ships.  I really prefer the smaller ones.

I've been on 4 Viking river cruises. I highly recommend Viking. They take great care of their passengers.

My daughter is wanting to go on Viking for Barcelona to Rome cruise for a big birthday I have coming up!

I am usually not a fan of cruises, but I have read reviews and googled which cruise line is the cleanest and Viking came up.

The only criticism I really saw was that it was a little sedate, which is fine with me!
