Any of you use a portable door lock when traveling?  If so, what brand/type do you reccommend?  TIA

I bought one but never use it, the places that I stay in actually have good locks on the door and they are only useful when you are inside. I don’t know of any door lock that will allow you to place it on the door when you are leaving for the day. Also something that works really well is just a plain rubber doorstopper.

You almost have to break the door down to get it past one and they probably cost about $1.50.

I have thought about buying one because I used to put the chair back under the knob, but they no longer have chairs with straight backs.  They have those swivel office chairs now.

I do move a desk, table or night stand in front of the adjoining door if my room has one.  Housekeeping must think I'm nuts.

When I was in Anaheim after an earthquake, I kept putting the lamps on the night tables on the floor in case of an aftershock.  I didn't want a lamp falling on my head while I was sleeping.  The lamps were really tall and heavy.  Every day housekeeping woudl put them back up on the night stands.

Amazon has a Door Jam that looks interesting and easy to use.
