I use to fly before 9-11 but, I have not flown since & I have no intention of flying anywhere for the rest of my life .... I do not trust the airlines to check the passengers..... I drive wherever I want to go & if it's too far or unattainable by car I just don't go.. The security checks at the airport are done by underpaid people who miss a lot of things & I don't want to blow up in the sky!!!

thanks so much birdie gal!! I fly Frontier or Allegiant because they have direct flights. We have a lot of turbulence if I do a connection in Denver. I appreciate your information!! 😊😊😊😊 I usually never see the pilots on those.

Every time I have ever flown, when the nose of that plane lifts off the runway, I recite The Lord's Prayer. Ever. Single. Time.

As someone who takes a commuter train into New York's Penn Station, I don't tend to worry when I am flying (or on the train for that matter). I feel that I am at more risk of getting hit by a car while walking across 7th Avenue, or even having an accident in my own car. I do have friends who have a lifelong fear of flying, even before 9/11, and they take Xanax before they fly- say it really helps.

I have more fear of the idiot drivers around me texting with their eyes on their phone instead of the road than a terrorist getting on the plane I am on. I would never stop flying because of fear.

I agree with the poster who said it gets better the more you fly.
For me, my issue is take off and landing. Like roller coasters and ferris wheels, I'm not a fan of that feeling of going up and down, but I flew so much between 2009 and 2012 that I'm over it now and I don't even think about it much anymore.

I think I'm gonna need meds. I went to a Dr and he said no, he was afraid I would miss my connection. Wth? So I will find another. Just don't think I can do it without it, especially now with the news they are putting bombs in computers and trying phones. 😩😩😩

Dr. gives my sister a Valium. She is always alert, but just relaxed.

Never feared flying and at some point decided if I wanted to see the world, I had no choice. That having been said, there are still a few places on my bucket list but I swear - these days I'm doing more road trips - not for fear of something happening as much as hating the long lines at the AP.
I paid the $100 for GLobal Entry and have used it twice; once it was worth it but going into and out of Miami for a cruise was horrible. Both lines were long - sure the TSA pre-check lines were shorter but even those took forever and one of the airports I flew back into didn't have all the kiosks all working for getting back into the country so I seriously have no idea if it was worth getting that or not!

I will not let fear dictate where I will or will not go.
If you (universal you) decide to let fear curb your travel, then the bad guys win.
It's silly to be so fearful of a minute possibility.
How many planes in the U.S. have the terrorists taken over, or blown up, since 9/11?
You have a greater chance of getting in to an accident on the way to the airport, than you do of a terrorist being on your plane.
