@PickyPicky3 wrote:@OKPrincess You might consider skipping something on your itinerary to see a show. Matinees are Wednesdays and Saturdays. Seeing a show at night would be complicated by your hotel being in NJ, thirty minutes outside of Manhatten. Complicated, but not impossible.
@PickyPicky3 We can't make changes to the schedule and need to stay close to the group as not to get lost.

@On It When I was in high school, a friend and I went to NYC to see a show and we wanted to go to Sardi's.
When we were seated, we found out the only thing we could afford was to split a cherries flambe dessert. So that's what we ordered.
The waiter refused to serve us and asked us to leave. He was obnoxious and loud. The customers around us heard what was going on and told the waiter if we have to leave, they would too.
We got our dessert and took our time looking at the wall photos.
Great memory.

@OKPrincess If you have a rigid schedule, enjoy everything this tour has to offer and go with the flow. Take note of areas, hotels, restaurants, etc., that you would enjoy on a future visit. Wait a while then schedule your own trip to Manhattan. I would recommend early December for a holiday experience. The tree in Rockefeller Center, the Cathedral, and of course the shops will be all decked out.
On that trip, see a Broadway show and dine at Sardi's. Do anything you felt you missed on your guided tour. Watch the people on the street. It is a fascinating study. Whatever, enjoy yourself. Manhattan is my favorite destination.

Make sure to ride on the wooden escalators at Macys...100 yrs old! (they have been mechanically upgraded but the treads are still wood) i think the one for the higher floors is really narrow.

Sounds like a great trip!! Over the years I have been to most of those places since I grew up in the NYC & NJ area.
I hope you have a great time and my best wishes for good weather (not like today!). NYC can get very hot & humid so make sure to check the weather before you go so you know what to bring.

Sounds like great fun @OKPrincess. My DH and I talk about doing some bus trips. We joke about having bathroom issues just about when it's time to board and I don't care for bus potties.

Yes those wooden escalators are several stories up.They are pretty cool & make you think of how the store used to be decades ago.

Make sure you try the bagels when you are there!
At the South St, Seaport...check out Fraunces Tavern.
Greenwich Village/ Chelsea check out the Highline and Chelsea Market. The tour buses definitely stop there.
Have a great time 👍 and be careful 👀 out there. Enjoy!

@OKPrincess The weather prognosticators have warned that wildfires smoke might be an issue for the upper midwest and northeast at any time through the end of summer.
If this would be an issue for you, you should definitely pack n95 or kn95 masks. You wouldn't want to get stuck in your hotel.
