We are going to Maine again.  It has been 7 years since we visited and are looking for new things to do and see.  Going to the Harpswell, Boothbay and surounding areas but we like the area so much we are going back.  Any suggestions?  We especailly like boat tours. ( Have been to Monhegan Island already.)

Have you been to Camden yet?  It's a lovely seaport town along with Bar Harbor and if you haven't been, Acadia National Park is a MUST!!   I live in New England and love the state of Maine.  It is absolutely beautiful.  Have a great vacation Smiley Happy

@bargainsgirl - If you like lobster and you haven't already been, you might check out Cabbage Island Clambakes in Boothbay Harbor.

A friend and I did this probably five years ago and really enjoyed it, both the boat trip to Cabbage Island and the twin lobster dinner as well. (Reservations highly recommended; cash or check only; no credit cards.  Pay at the boarding kiosk, from our experience.)

If you do it, it's worth getting to Boothbay Harbor early to park in one of the municipal lots (much cheaper than any private parking lots).  Unless, of course, you're staying there!

Another thought is the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.  The display of trolls that they have are wonderful to see.  A lot of fun following the map to find all of them.  They really are incredible; it was only supposed to be a temporary display but, was so popular, it's now permanent.

@bargainsgirl  If you are going to be in Maine this week, I can recommend the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland. There is usually a cook-off and there are other competitions and activities. It's tons of fun for everyone. And, of course there is lobster. I also second Camden (Payton Place) and Acadia National Park.

I think @goldensrbest  is from Maine. She might have some ideas.

I may be too late,  I also live in MAINE and agree with many of the suggestions.  Camden and Rockland are also very nice.  If you want a great expensive restaurant check out Primo's in Rockland.  I would also recommend Bar Harbor it is a drive but beautiful and spend a few days there.  You already had BoothBay on your list which is one of my favorites.

Hopefully you will bring good weather with you,  we have had a very rainy humid simmer.

I'm not a traveler, but these posts make me think I'd love to visit Maine.
