I'm taking a weekend trip in January, long cross country flight. It was supposed to be non stop, but Delta has already changed my departure flight to include a stop. Not happy about that. Especially since it's winter and the stop is in Michigan. And I live on wintery East coast.
All the more reason to take just a carry on. I'm slightly obsessed with the idea of a rose gold carry on bag. My old one is too big. Delta is 22×14×9.I had picked out a rose gold Samsonite on EBags, then I found this Heys bag for 99. Ten dollars more. It's 21×14×9, which is good to be safe. They claim on their site that's half price from $200.Anyone own Heys luggage ?
It's the Para-lite 21"

I want to carry a crossbody tote as my personal item, as big as I can get away with. I know it has to fit under the seat. Considering this one from Heys as well. It's 14×14, is that too big ?

As long as it's not bigger than a standard briefcase, you should be fine, but it really depends on what the aircraft is. Some of them have a little box under the seat for the entertainment equipment. You can check on seatguru.com for your particular aircraft.
As far as changing planes in Michigan, the only Delta hub here is Detroit, and they are very well equipped to handle winter weather. There was a pretty well known meltdown during a winter storm several years ago, but a lot has changed since then.
Edited to add - just be prepared to be asked to check your larger bag at the gate unless you're a SkyMiles medallion, have a DL Amex, or have purchased either a premium economy or first class ticket. If you're in boarding group 3 or later, there just won't be any room left in the overhead bins by the time you board.

I don't know anything about the brand, but does the 21 inch measurement include the wheels? If it's only the size of the case itself, those wheels will put you over the limit.

@FrostyBabe1 Thanks for the info, I didn't realize that about having to check the bag. Ugh. I paid the $15 for priority boarding, does that matter? I haven't flown in ten years so all this stuff is new to me.
I don't know about the wheels, EBags gIves that information but I don't know about the Heys site.

Edited my response after looking at the DL website - Priority boarding will put you in Zone/Group 1. It should appear on your boarding pass. Keep in mind that zone 1 is actually the 4th or 5th group to board, so you while you won't be the last person on, quite a few people will get on before you. They pre-board 3 distinct groups - those who need extra time/assistance, followed by families with strollers, followed by active duty military. Then it's First class. After than I believe it's Diamond Medallions, then Sky Priority, and then the numbered groups start.

I have that piece of heys luggage and it is a perfect carryon for Delta...that is the only airline abc I am a frequent flier.
You should be able to get you bag on board...you will board after all of the ones already mentioned and sky priority, which is elite or delta Amex holders.
Detroit is well ill equipped to handle winter traffic..it is a very large airport so hopefully your gates will not be too far apart.

@sydsgma1 I contacted Heys and the measurement does include the wheels. I measured my old carry on and it just makes it if not expanded and nothing is in the outside pockets. I don't want to chance it, it's too heavy too. So I think I will order the Heys bag. It seems to be a great price as well. Also my old bag only has the two wheels.
I just want this trip to go as smoothly as possible. I've had a really tough year, actually more than a year.

I have nothing to add other than I want that suitcase.
