@crazered @Kachina624 ...The Red Tide is currently only being reported on the Gulf side of Florida. There is no Red Tide present on the east coast of Florida at this time. You can look up if there is any present the day or so before your trip. Google: Florida Beach Guide to Red Tide.
@crazered unfortunately i dont have any suggestions for where to go or not go in Fort Lauderdale ( I live in Sarasota on the gulfcoast). But it is high tourist / spring break time right now until after Easter at least.
You may want to search literally "places or areas to avoid Ft. Luderdale. To find things to go and do..." on Trip Advisor or do a google search on things to do in Fort Lauderdale. There may be festivals youll want to go to ( or avoid lol ). Then youll want to look up those restaurants, tiurs, festivals, museums, etc. Thenlook up things that get suggested to you for their ratings.
Of course hopefully you'll get help here as well.
Let us know hiw your trip went!

I'm there, almost. There's no red tide or fish kills here. Here's the most current report. Ft. Lauderdale is Broward County. Just south is Dade County, which contains the greater Miami area. The beaches are fine. Our sand is golden and very hot. Bring flip flops or waterproof beach shoes. The Hard Rock Hotel has a casino and many restaurants. They charge for parking. I have not been to the beach areas there in a long while, so I can't tell you which beaches are still nice now. Don't limit yourself to only doing things in Ft. Lauderdale. The airport is partially in Dania. The area from Dade County north into Broward County is really like one place.
The city has a website for tourists. visit lauderdale. com

Florida does have a website to check before going to the beaches
https://www.florida-guidebook.com/red-tide/
https://floridadep.gov/AlgalBloomWeeklyUpdate
Call 866-300-9399 at any time from anywhere in Florida to hear a recording about red tide conditions throughout the state. Callers outside of Florida can dial 727-502-4956. Standard calling charges apply

We have the red tide and smelly fish on our gulf beaches right now. Those Clearwater spring breakers are getting into it. Yuk. It's not on the Atlantic coast last time I checked

I am about 7 miles NW of Fort Lauderdale, more towards Coral Springs, but go there frequently for all my doctor visits. I don't socialize in the area, however, this is spring break time. Expect all the mayhem that goes along with that. I have found traffic to be worse in my area though. The issue of dead fish and the red tide is on the western side of Florida and not here.
