Re: Backpack recommendations

@foxywoods Wow!  Such a great idea about the peds!  I'm going to do that, because I get grossed out by stuff like that, too.  I'm going to have to get antibac packets.  I need to start making my list.

And since I haven't flown in so long, I didn't know until yesterday that there are now multiple tiers of seat choices with more expensive ones giving more perks.  I had no idea about the middle seat rule, either.  I have so much to learn!

@Ainhisg @foxywoods  I love your hint to take large plastic bag to slip over backpack when placing it under seat. We have all witnessed filthy aircraft cabins. I use a plastic grocery sack to place in seat back pocket. I then slip my iPad, etc inside the plastic bag to keep those items more sanitary. Then I can use as personal garbage bag at end of flight to collect my wrappers, empty cups, etc to give to flight attendant as she/he walks the aisle with a larger trash bag. My backpack of choice is Rick Steves Civita Day Pack (microfiber  and weighs 10 oz). When empty it can lay flat in other luggage. I wash mine in mesh bag on light wash and drip dry in full sun. My first RS bag lasted 20 years before zipper developed kink. Upon return from trip I place all luggage (opened) in full sun to further sanitize.

@Hilery I have a well used Rick Steves Veloce Guide Bag with 2 stains on the back.  I didn't know I could throw it in the wash. I was going to throw it out and purchase a new one, Cold water? Thanks.

@Hilery thank you so much for the grocery sack tip and for the backpack recommendation!  I had never heard of that brand so just went to read about it!

@cindyNC  Your guide bag indicates it is microfiber on RS website so I think it would be washable. My instructions say the Civita Bag is not machine washable but I tried it anyway. I closed all zippers and used largest mesh bag I could find. Also included other items so it was not washed solo. You could probably rub some Dawn detergent on the stains before washing on gentle. I think i used warm wash but cold would be fine.

Note: I only place in mesh bag so the straps don't tangle with other items in the machine.

Hello💜!

When I went on my travel tour to Brazil, I was on the hunt for the perfect backpack too. 😅 For me, it’s super important that it can fit everything—notes, clothes, snacks, notebooks, and even my 14-inch laptop in a separate compartment, since I work online as well! 💻✈️

I found the perfect one from Harvest, and it was only $50!! 😍 Their backpack is made of eco-leather and is so ideal for traveling. 🌍✨ After six months of using it, there's been no deformation or discoloration, even though I totally washed it in the laundry! 😆 It’s been my daily go-to and still looks brand new. 💪🖤

I never thought something as simple as a backpack could bring me so much joy, but here we are! 😂💜 Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable, stylish travel companion! 🎒✈️
