Re: Airline Advice

[ Edited ]

No personal experience with Frontier or Spirit, but both have questionable reputations for suddenly changing scheduling, cancelling flights and applying random arbitrary charges for small things that are usually gratis on other carriers.

if you want a laugh with some perspective about Spirit, watch this brief video that spoofs the experience others complain of :

Overall, I've heard much worse about Frontier than Spirit, but the video will yield a laugh.

@gizmogal - Spirit is absolutely awful. I won't fly it anymore.

Trust me I am listening.  I had another problem that popped up and I just wanted to get support and advice again.  Took most of the morning to cancel the flight.  To them CREDIT BACK TO MY CHARGE CARD MEANT credit for a future booking.  What a mess and most of the day to fix it.  Sorry if I repeated myself but I was in a state of real frustration and coming off of an illness.

I was a little nervous after reading your post as last week was my first time flying on Spirit.  I too had heard horror stories but someone else booked the travel.  I was pleasantly surprised.  While we did have checked luggage I was nervouse about the size of my personal item, no problem.  When we went to take off  we were first told there was a delay because of Laguardia of an hour and a half and we could deplane. He then said wait, came back on and said he got it down to 25 minutes, still could deplane. He made up time and we arrived by our original time. Never have I been allowed to deplane for such a short delay after having boarded.    The return flight from Laguardia, with the exception of the impossible TSA line there,(I don't think I can blame that on Spirit.) was delayed about 20 minutes but that again was no big issue.

I will no longer fly Southwest or Frontier.

I will also not fly anywhere anymore unless I fly 1st class, period. I have been flying with Delta most recently and have been happy. I arrive less stressed, I can check bags free so I bring what I want. My husband feels the same, we worked hard all our lives to get to this point so we treat ourselves now.

@Jacie I feel the same way.  Usually DH stays at home and I go to Florida and meet up with my brother when we visit our mother.

I have decided in recent years to fly first class.  As someone who is traveling alone it is so much less stressful!  I have noticed a huge difference in the way I'm treated from checking in to being on the plane.  Plus my luggage comes out to the carousel first.

My next flight is a few months from now and I have my seat in first class scheduled on American.....I will also no longer fly on Frontier o Southwest.
