I have and use both, although I do use the Vitamix for somethings that I used to do in a food processor (like making pesto, nut butters, etc.) I love the lowest speed setting for a quick fine paste for things like garlic, ginger, or even onion.

I use my Vitamix for pretty much everything except, of course, slicing. Normally, if I have a small amount of slicing to do, I just use my chef's knife. However, if I have a lot of slicing to do, I use my Breville Sous Chef food processor.
For shredding cheddar or similar cheeses, I prefer the food processor. However, the Vitamix can't be beat for "grating" Parmesan cheese... it's so fast and easy to do, and the Vitamix makes for a simpler, faster cleanup.
I always use the Vitamix for nut butters, making cole slaw, salsa, hummus, frozen desserts, sauces, salad dressings, and chopping veggies, etc. I also use it for my morning latte.
The Vitamix is used far more often than my food processor, so if I absolutely had to part with one, it would be the food processor. Since I don't have to part with one, I'll keep using and appreciating them both.

Lilybell2, how do you make a latte with a Vitamix?

I cook 6 out of 7 nights and entertain a lot. I use all my kitchen toys. Makes food prep so quick & easy.

A cup of strong coffee, a couple of ounces of cream, one tablespoon of Dutch process cocoa, 1/3 tsp of cinnamon, a few drops of stevia or sweetener of choice. Optional: I also like to add a little coconut oil and a pat of butter. Process on high until steaming hot and pour into a mug or latte cup. There will be lots of yummy froth on top.

I use both the Vitamix and the food processor. Since I normally make smoothies every morning, it gets more use than the food processor, but I have found that somethings (like pizza or bread dough) do much better in the food processor. I have KA food processor that is about 10 years old, and it is great. I lack counter space, so the food processor is stored in another room, but it isn't difficult to move.

You're very welcome, Mochahoney.
In the Fall, I often substitute pumpkin spice seasoning for the cinnamon and add a rounded tbsp. of organic canned pumpkin. It's yummy.
