@Teddixat wrote:@Icegoddess I watched the presentation last night they said the opening where the bugs get sucked in is actually larger. I don't know much about bug zappers but that is what they claimed last night
@Teddixat what they were claiming was larger was the little openings for the bugs to get in. The caller complained that it wouldn't allow the larger Japanese Beetles in, so she had hoped the openings in this year's model would be larger so it would catch them too. That is what he was responding to.
When I got mine in 2022, I noticed the ones HSN was selling also had the smaller hopper than the one I got on QVC.
Kinda hard to see, but in the lower picture, the hopper is longer than the one in the upper pic.

@Glitter51 wrote:I bought one a few years ago, it worked until I had to replace the bulb, then it just stopped. Left it plugged in and nothing got trapped. I won't buy another one.
@Glitter51 replacing the bulb on the smaller versions is a huge pain. You have to take the darn thing apart to do so.

Every year they advertise this thing....I'm wondering if they really work to keep away mosquitoes?
I remember being in other yards and hearing the zapping sound which is unpleasant. I haven't watched the presentation so I don't know if they still make that awful sound! LOL!
It would seem to me that it would attract the bugs into the yard but I'm sure I'm wrong.

Between the DynaTrap and tomorrow's Blackstone, I won't need to watch the Q.
So many repeats, I guess for new customers. ![]()

@Teddixat , we've got loads of mosquitoes. My bird baths are within 5' of my DynaTrap and I get covered each time I refill them. I think we have bulletproof mosquitoes![]()

@Teddixat , I think it's a nominal cost. I've not noticed any difference in my power bill when I don't have it turned on. I usually keep it running year round but when I've had to order a bulb replacement and didn't have it on for a few weeks, I didn't notice any difference at all. It's a very small fan that runs and the bulb is energy efficient so not sure how much it costs. I'd say only a dollar or two a month, if that.

@haddon9 , I've not really heard any zapping. This is more of a trap, they get sucked into the canister through a fan; not like the old bug zappers. Those put me over the edge when they'd zap, especially when a big bug was zapped. I did have an anole who was checking out the thing and his tail got caught in the fan. Not sure who was more scared, me or the little critter.

The presenter claims that it costs two cents a day to run.

The presenter claimed that there is no zapping sound.

the bats, toads & birds take care of the mosquitos.
these things kill 'good insects' along with mosquitos, not good!
use a citronella candle when outside.
