Ammonium lauryl sulfate is still considered a sulfate, I would not use it .

Is Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate safe?

Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate

Unfortunately, they also strip your natural oils – which can leave your hair brittle, frizzy, and off balance. One of the most common sulfates found in shampoo is Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. If you see this term on a shampoo label, steer clear!

Re: Aveda Beauty TSV - April 8, 2025

Even Amazon is expensive in my mind.  I taught cosmetology and did platform work in the 70's. I remembered when we launched JeriMac in the salon, and schools. , lol. It was 2.95@, omg, people bought it , but complained. lol. Preliminary, and the number one at the time Herbak Essence was about 89-99 cents. . Fast forward. Today I think the prices are way jacked up, especially name brands.  They have gone up nearly 6 bux a bottle so far this year.    I sometimes use Mizani  for curly hair, and then wen. Three years ago I was paying 21 bux for 32 oz bag of it. Now it is over 35 bux. This stuff isn't worth it. But for me , it works so we buy it. It is advertising and marking cost, and if the price is higher makes it more exclusive. In buyers minds JMHO.  ANYWAY Aveda has Always been expensive.  It was the go to shampoo in 90's until he pulled sales of aveda to only the salons. You had to go there to get it. I used to love the cherry bark mask, but they don't make it anymore. The shampoo is great for certain types of hair IMO.  Otherwise I find it as good as Alterna, Wen, and a couple others I can't think of name right now. lol

Sometimes they add the sulfites to later the oils and such out. It is not the worst stuff, but I wouldn't call it CLEAN.

Re: Aveda Beauty TSV - April 8, 2025

Did anyone who ordered the Shampure formula get theirs yet?  I got mine yesterday and used it in the shower last night, and it smelled terrible!  Like a bag of musty potting soil!  I can't believe that this was the original scent, this would have CLOSED a salon, not cause it to expand into a national chain!  I am going to try to change my auto-ship to the Rosemary Mint formula next time, and hope my sensitive skin can tolerate the increased botanical content.

@CamilleP If it smells that bad I hope you are returning it to QVC. Maybe you got a bad bottle? If you do return , make sure you are not charged return shipping and get a full refund.

Re: Aveda Beauty TSV - April 8, 2025

@DJs mom   That's why I am asking if anyone else has gotten that formula and what theirs smells like.  My bottles were both perfectly sealed, and their texture is quite normal, and more importantly, they are not irritating my eczema break-out, which my usual WEN formulas are making worse.  I have tried several drugstore shampoos, and they all make my skin worse, too, so even though this Aveda smells bad, it is letting my skin heal, and that is what counts most right now.  I want to switch the formula on the a/d for next time, but as usual, the online system won't let me do that, so I am going to have to call and talk to a cs agent.
