What's your take on the Corky's ribs?

Haven't bought spareribs in years - too much work to cook for one - and don't know is it priced well?

Also, are they tasty?

Would appreciate your opinions.

Re: 6/6 TSV - OPINIONS?

[ Edited ]

IMO they are way over priced. I have never bought them since I'm sure what we cook is better anyways.

The 4 lbs is just over $16 per lb & the 8 lb is just over $11 per lb. That's a rip-off.

We always buy baby back ribs instead of spare ribs because they are not as greasy.

I have 2 slabs baby back ribs in the freezer that I paid $2.89 per lb.

You can make them in the oven really easy.

Remove membrane from back. Sprinkle the ribs with salt, pepper & chili powder. Double wrap a slab of baby back ribs not spare ribs in tinfoil. Cook at 400° for 2 hrs. At this point you can take out of the oven brush with sauce & put under broiler for a few mins or you can put on your outdoor grill for a few mins.

I know 400° for 2 hrs does not sound like it would cook ribs & make them as tender as they are when finished but they are. Probably the best ribs I have ate. YUM!!!

@eddyandme  I agree with @Nightowlz that they are overpriced.  You are paying for convenience only.   Ribs are really easy to make.....   the toughest part is just getting the membrane off of the back (and there are tricks to doing that too).

I rub seasoned salt and a little garlic powder on them and then put them on foil with a few splashes of water  (maybe a dozen drops- which helps create some steam when cooking) then wrap up the foil.  Put them in the oven at 325 or on a gas grill and leave for 2-1/2 hours.

* If I put them on the gas grill I turn off the middle heating bar and put the ribs over that one for the 2-1/2 hours at 325.

In the meantime,  mix your favorite BBQ sauce, a little duck sauce, and some honey.  I like a little spicer BBQ sauce and sometimes mix 2 sauces together with the other indredients...  up to you.  After 2-1/2 hours open the foil and brush both sides with the sauce and turn the heat up to 425-450.  Baste and turn the ribs for 10-15 mins until they are beautifully browned and the color you like.

ENJOY....

Thanx, @nyc1, your recipe sounds good, too!  I don't BBQ, but will also try your oven method.  Never bothered with ribs 'cause thought they were beyond my culinary ability!

I never buy food from Q, usually way overpriced. Good ribs are easy to make. 1) cut off skin and cut into chunks,2) broil to melt away much of the fat, 3) throw in slow cooker or low in oven (300 degrees), with onion and bottle of BBQ sauce. Come out great!

It is not that difficult to make good ribs; all you need is a good rub, an oven, and bbq sauce.  You are paying a lot for convenience with the tsv.  I imagine if you are someone who does not like to cook, and you enjoy ribs, they are probably good and easy!  For me, I will make my own for much less money and not that much work.

I paid $8 a lb for Organic pork ribs a couple of weeks ago.

Recipes are super easy, throw it in the oven until the meat falls off the bone and you eat.

If you don't want to heat up your house, there are crock pot versions as well (for the non-purists) ;o)

Drastically overpriced.  No sparerib, baby back rib, country style rib, short rib - none are worth $16.00 per pound.  I am fairly new to QVC and I can tell you I would never buy food from QVC.  I have ordered from Harry & David at Christmastime, but that's it.
