Perfection in a Christmas movie, with deep spiritual themes, untapped emotions suddenly emerging, sadness, whimsy and humor.

Everyone is so great, but I love Cary as the most understanding angel, ever.   "The Bishop's Wife" taps into his always memorable soulfulness--

Hilarious, smitten Elsa Lanchester is almost as struck by Cary as I am--  she and earnest little Karolyn Grimes are my other favorite characters. 

 

Timeless, profound.

I had forgotten all  about this movie. I have watched it several times over the years and  am going to watch it again.  Thanks for the reminder! It's really a great movie and something a little different.

I'm recording it.  I had never seen it and tried watching it a few years ago - don't know why I didn't like it.  But I'll try again.  I love Cary Grant and so many old movies.

Thanks for the reminder! It is one of my favorites. I usually watch this when I'm wrapping presents just before Christmas. I also love the music of the childrens' choir and Monty Woolley as the doubting professor.

Agreed, they were great too, @PA Mom-mom , and also meriting mention is James Gleason's happy-go-lucky cab driver.  Just so many wonderful characters....
