Watching the Andrew McCarthy documentary "Brats".

It's interesting. I never really considered how the term "Brat Pack" changed these young actors careers.
It would be so interesting, & I think that they all feel that, to see how their lives would have been different if that writer for New York magazine hadn't taken that shot at them.

I watched this today and really enjoyed it. They are all about my age and I was very much influenced by their movies at the time. They were all wonderful in this documentary, especially Rob Lowe.

@Dusty1   I just finished watching and really enjoyed the documentary.

I had no idea the damage the term "Brat Pack" caused.  When Andrew was interviewing that reporter, you could see the anger in his eyes.

I loved "St. Elmo's Fire" and thought they all most likely remained friends...surely not the case.

I was surprised Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald did not meet with Andrew and talk with him.

@Dusty1  - I love Andrew McCarthy and all the Brat Pack members.  Love St Elmo's Fire, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, and all those movies in that era.

I still watch those movies to this day.

@San Antonio Gal Oh yes, same for me. Love all those movies and in particular Pretty in Pink. I watch it when I see it is on television. There's something about Andrew isn't there, lol.

I really enjoyed this. I have been a fan of many of these actors especially Andrew McCarthy and Rob Lowe.

Less Than Zero is one of my favorite movies. Andrew McCarthy, James Spader and Robert Downey Jr were so good in this one.

The Breakfast Club should be mandatory for all generational viewing. They were the best and, along with John Hughes' visions, brought the reality of GenX life to our Boomer parents. I miss that kind of film making today.

I read that he did reach out to Molly, but she really wanted nothing to do with it. I erased your earlier comment, but she also hated the term and apparently just wants to look forward.

Judd is apparently hard to find, turning away from Hollywood and wanting to live a quiet life.

I was reading the comments of a different article and people were saying "what about Sean Penn?" Anthony Michael Hall? Matthew Broderick? James Spader? Even Tom Cruise? And, I couldn't help but think that, other than maybe James Spader, I don't think of the others as "Brat Pack", but I can't even explain why! Maybe because some of them were the nerds. Or I'm thinking about them current day. At any rate, will need to check out the documentary.

Andres McCarthy also wrote a few books including his story "Brat".

It was interesting too.
