"Grab his cheeks." Okay I'm going to be good and not take that opening and run with it @Pearlee.
I have a hard time believing Lucia would have left. She didn't spend that $300 on her son's teeth. I suspect she wouldn't have spent the $2000 to leave town. You know that old saying about a bird in hand is better than two in the bush. I think that was one of Lucia's philosophies. Imagine if she had known Gus was driving when her husband was killed. He would have had to sign over his entire business to her.
Gus may have been a more likable person if he wasn't carrying all that guilt and trying to appease Lucia. He blew up a lot but was always sorry immediately after. Kimble saw something in Gus which makes me want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Gus recognized Kimble was a good guy who had his best interests. That's why he entrusted him twice to do what he asked.

@Tique LOL @ your first paragraph. By now, Gus should have wised up enough not to give Lucia $$$ for transportation but to buy her and the kids one way bus tickets out of town. He should have also told the dentist to send the bill directly to him. But then the show wouldn't have had its story line.

I don't think there was a dentist. Just another scheme to get more money.
You're right. Gus should have known better. Kimble would have.

@Tique Yeah, Kimble had her figured out in no time. He mastered the "disapproving look."

i don’t think Lucia would have ever moved to Chicago or that Gus would have ever been rid of Lucia. I don’t know that Gus would ever loose the guilt he felt. If not, then he would not be rid of Lucia. Lucia just wanted Gus to give her money. She knew what buttons to push to get it. She always used the kids as an excuse to get the guilt going, and as long as Gus felt guilty, he paid up. It would be up to Gus to take the reins and stop. He had to decide if the business was more important to him or allowing Lucia to bleed him dry.
As for Kimble’s loyalty...I’m not so sure he was that loyal. He did feel something for Gus that was obvious. When Kimble arrived Gus was broke, about to lose his business. The insurance company was about to drop him. But Kimble was always written as a man who was patient, moral, and felt for people in general. Maybe he saw Gus as just weak and felt sorry for him. Or maybe he felt Gus had a quick temper but a big heart. But at the end of the day Kimble wasn’t about to hang around knowing that Gus was into something illegal.
Gus died and Kimble escaped. That’s the only way it could have ended.
Not the best episode, but interesting in its own way

@chloe4578 I don't think she would have left either unless she had a man who was taking her somewhere. Here's another old expression that fits: It's women like her that give all women a bad name.
I'm sure Lucia had one or two redeeming qualities but I missed them.

Ha, ha, your last line about missing the redeeming qualities, @Tique ! Agreed.
I also agree with everyone that Lucia most likely would not have left, but Gus was desperate enough to be rid of that almost daily reminder, to give it a try.... At this point, he didn't seem to have much insight or be able to make prudent, considered decisions. I felt all through the episode maybe the same kind of sympathy or pity that Kimble felt for Gus. He was 'redeemable", I thought-- that was the tragedy...
Felt so sorry for those kids having Lucia as their only parent, being dependent on such as her. The 'fly-by-night' existence such children have, and then grow up often to repeat the same patterns as their feckless parents....

So true, Lucia did give women a bad name. I really don’t think she had any redeeming qualities. She is what she is.

Just watched next week's...it's good. I remembered it well, as I do the ones I really like. It is directed by Don Brinkley, Christie Brinkley's father.
